Most of the way through this one. Just glossed it ready for decals. Kit has been no problem at all so far. Not sure about the kit paint call out, this one is a June '44 one and they didn't start using green until July so I've done it in RLM 74.

Bit of a mare with the decals. There's a white one that goes all the way around the fuselage. I always cock those up. You think you have them straight and then when you try and join the ends up they don't match, so you pull them off and try again...and again and eventually they break. So I painted it on but the paint hasn't taken that well over the Aqua Gloss but sod it, it's a white band, it'll do. It's just 'war worn'.

Thanks Anders. Got the rest of the decals on and another gloss coat. Then pin washed with Mig black panel line wash.

Hell of a toe in on the undercarriage, most I've ever seen.

Got the ancillary stuff on, drop tanks etc.

Image

Prop and spinner attached.

Image

Matte coated with Alclad matte. Just got the canopy and the aerial rigging to do now. I'm calling this done, final reveal photos on the final reveal pages. Funnily enough... :cheers2:

Really nice work mate, I never use the band decals, regardless of the manufacturer. I always paint them.
btw, how are you finding the MIG washes? I bought the Luftwaffe fighters pack part 1 and part 2 and they work brilliantly.
Cheers, John

Thanks John. I'm leaning towards painting any band decals in future, I've never had any luck with them. The Mig panel wash worked really nicely. Quite subtle on matt paint I thought and I'll certainly use them again. I'll be interested to see what they are like on NMF as I've seen some brilliant results from other modellers using them.

My Fw 190D-9 by Eduard in 48th that I built had an NMF finish on the undersides, and the streaking effects really was amazing, definately the best I have used so far, so it has my stamp of approval for NMF. I agree- can be quite subtle on matt finishes, but I used a very dark MIG wash for the matt finish and a lighter fuel coloured type one for the NMF :th:
