Italeri 1/72 IAI Kfir C7 - something different

Post by aur0ra145 »

Howdy,

Started on this kit a little while back. I'm just now getting the thread up. I'm making this model into a briefing stick to use. So, the build will be gear up. Which is a first for me. And I'll be stick a stick up its tailpipe when building is complete.

Started out well, no major issues. Which is good as I've heard some not so fun things about Italeri.

Canopy was a bit fussy, but I finally got it on. A few small fit issues from the bottom of the wings mating with the fuselage. I ended up doing a lot of sanding, then filling with putty to make it work. Sadly the gear doors provided for the nose gear didn't completely cover the whole. That took quite a bit of build up on my part to get it all covered. It looks okay, but I'm not really worried about fine details for this build.

Went with a gray paint scheme; my plan is to make this look like one of the Kfir's from VF-43. They're an aggressor squadron for training purposes and flew Kfir's before the Navy retired them. The Navy called the Kfir a F-21 Lion for those intered.

Clear coat went on last weekend and it's almost time for decals!
