Vallejo primer

I'm still needing help, sorry I'm a rock, I spray the primer on light coats, and it just comes off touching the primer, scratching the primer, holding the kit by the finders with my thumb and fingers, the paint rubs right off. anyway should I dump Vallejo black primer if I can't get it right soon, and try to use another primer? and then go and try and use Vallejo paints? I love the range that Vallejo gives you in paint and that's why I'm just wanting to use the stuff, I've got to figure this out. Please help! is there a step by step somewhere showing me how the primer works. or a video showing me someone with the same problem and how they corrected it? Again please help.

Vallejo is a strange primer some people swear by it and it works all the time for them, the rest of us can't get it to work! Me being one of the later, I went to badger stynalrez which is also stocked by Ultimate it works 100% of the time for me

I fully agree with Nev
The Ultimate stuff is far superior
It sprays smooth and you won't damage it by touching it
Vallejo primer doesn't work for me either
Only the first bottle i had but they changed the formula after that
You can tell by the cap ,the first batches had a white cap later batches have the now standard black cap
I still have my bottles of Vallejo primer but i now use them as paint stands for figures

expensive figure stands...... but cheaper than mine, as I gave mine away white cap an all. never opened. I just heard so much negativity about it, that I never bothered to persevere, I figured that many people can't be that wrong so why put myself through it.

I wasn't using them so i'm really bothered about their pricetag anymore
I had them for a couple of years already and i have been using other primers for a while
I used AMMO for a couple of years but i started to have trouble with those aswell
They where causing puddles too fast
But that didn't happen when i started using them so maybe i just reached the end of their shelf life
Now i only use Alclad and Ultimate primers and i am happy with those
Allthough the Alclad is only used when i have to use Alclad paints

I still use vallejo on models that don't need any masking or sanding and i don't do it subtly, just blast it on till it covers and leave it a few hours before overcoating it.

OK, so I'm moving on from there primers, wookiee76 just brought up my other question that I forgot to ask duh!, what do I use on there paint for a sealer? you know changing from enamel paints to acrylic paints is a pain, but its because it stinks so bad, and I'm worried about my kids, I have a booth but it still stinks. And my house is so small I have to go outside to change my mind. thanks guys for all your help. That's why I like it here, no rivet counters just help.

If for a sealer you mean a gloss coat then i use alclad aqua gloss, acrylic and once dried pretty much bombproof, other than that i still sometimes break out the klear/future if the model won't experience much white spirit and i don't need a flawless finish.

I struggled with a Vallejo in the past - but and I actually got it to work after following a set of simple rules; always clean the model with alcohol before laying down the first thin layer of primer, let it cure for atleast 48 hours before sanding and always sand using a wet sanding stick or paper.

But I also switched to Badger/Ultimate primer and all my Vallejo primers went into the bin after that
I will never go back to Vallejo again, too much risk and hassle.
