Global Scale Modeller

Thanks to a loss off mojo, I haven't build anything lately.
To get myself going again, I decided to join a GB. This works for me, because off the fact you must finish
a build in a certain time.
So let's see where this goes...

The reason I chose this GB, was because I had this kit alying around. And also because I always wanted to
try a dio with water. So I ordered some Vallejo Still Water and well, we will see...

Why this kit? Simpel, I saw it on Dutch Amazon for a few bob and also very close to my home, so very cheap.
And something completely different and new for me.

The idea is to build some kind off Alaskan Bush Plane and place it in a dio. Let's see how that will
turn out..

Right, the kit.

With the well known booklet.

With a white Dutch...

and a yellow Swiss version.

The sprues in white.

With some detail...

And to my surprise almost no flash.



Some really decent glass.

And some sharp decals.

Up to now, I'm pleasantly surprised.

Started out with the cockpit.
Which had some pinmarks..

But these were very easy to remove by scraping and sanding.
Cleaned up the rest off the cockpit bits, which was very easy, and tried a dryfit to see if it would
all fit together.

And I must say, not bad at all.



Took it apart again and decided to glue in the smallest parts like the foot pedals, to prevent glue
staines later, and prepared everything for some primer.

This can now dry before I'm going to put on some colour.

That's it for now. Sorry, not much, I know....
Now I've got to decide on the colours for the interior. Looked up some interiors on the web, and they
are all different. So I'll have to decide on colours myself, something I find really hard to do...

Part 2.

Ended last time with some primer. After drying, started adding some colour.

But, before I'm going to show you this, first let me explain something.
It is going to be a civilian airplane. Most off the time these are spotless. Because I find this
a bit boring, I decided to give it some wear and tear..... Like it's been used a lot....

For starters, some black on the almost not to be seen again areas and some pre shading.


The frame got a layer off Black Grey.


And then I forgot to take pics off all the loose parts painted, so I'm going to show
it to you like this, after I put the thing together .
For the upholstry I chose a 70's green.

With the seats in two different tones, like the font one has been replaced.

The dash I painted Black Grey, with a decal on top that did not fit the clocks at all...

Off course I did not see this, until I allready put the decal on there. ..
Did not know what to do about it, so decided to leave it like this, knowing it would be very
hard to see later...

Anyway....
This is how it looks inside the fuselage.

With only just visible, the wooden floor and shelf in the back which I created with a sand
colour and some oil paint over it.



Oh, and almost forgot. After painting I gave the whole lot a oil wash to bring out the detail and
dirty things up a bit. Finished it with a matt coat and dusted it with some chalk.
Better then all white.... I think...

Only, a bit boring and neat. So I opened up one off those sets and pulled out a sleeping bag, a back pack,
a steel toolbox and a rifle.

Gave this some colours and a wash.




Looked up a map from a certain area in Alaska and printed it out in different sizes.

Picked the right size and folded it a few times to give it that worn look, and stuck it to
the dash.

Hmmm, up close like this it looks not as good as I thougt it would..
Made a gunstrap out off tape and painted it Black Grey. Stuck it to the gun and then placed all
the bits inside the cockpit.

Filling up quite nicely, think I'm going to leave it like this.

With all this painting and washing, you get some drying time every now and then. So in between, allready
did some work on other parts off the build. Like the engine.
Because the engine is going to be completely invisible later, I kept it all simple.
Glued the whole thing together and primed it in Alclad grey.


Where I must say, I was surprised about the number off parts and the detail on this engine. Being a
Revell and all...
Some Alclad aluminium.


Then painted the exhaust pipes and some small details and gave it, without sealing it first, an oil wash.


And that was it for this episode..

Oke, looking a the pics, I think the rifle looks much to shiny, so I'm going to hit that with a satin later...

I think details like that can ad a lot to a build, make it look a bit more "used".

Lookin great! The large 1/32 scale screams for the details you added.

Sorry, sorry. I know I promised to be back soon, but you know work / life / mojo, all
got in the way. But I won't bother you with that.

So, I did not do much modelling lately, but I found out I still had some pics on the
camera. So here goes.

Someone at the dutch forum said something about Bevers, so I thought: Bever hat.
Took an American helmet from a 1/35 set and sanded it in the shape I wanted.

Piece off tape as a tale.

Needed some fur so I cut up a cheap brush.

And stuck it on with some white glue.

Hmm.... Not really the result I was hoping for, a bit to round. So cut me some tubing,
glued a lit on it and repeated the other steps.

Much better I think. Also made the tale with a piece off string.
Seen on the web that these things come in gray, so I primed it black and misted some light
gray over it. Just to give it some depth.

And placed it in the cockpit.

Me like....

Now what me don't like, is that because off my thick fingers / my clumsyness with computers / the
heat (pick one...) I managed to make the rest off the pictures to disapeare...
I also made some head phones and hung them in the cockpit and after that closed up the pit. But
I will try to make some pics through the glass next time.

And that makes this update even shorter then I thought it would be... .
