Mr Surfacer 1000 Acetone Cleaner Required?

Gentlemen,
Understand that Mr Hobby -Mr Surfacer requires ACETONE liquid in order to clean brush after application. Is this correct?

Also understand that the same applies for Squadron Green Putty, that it is acetone based. However, it is best applied with the
putty applicator wet in ALCOHOL rather than acetone because acetone can damage the plastic. Is this correct?

Yep sounds right, although i usually use lacquer thinner as my go to cleaning solution.

I use acetone on a cotton bud when using MR Surfacer 500/1000 for seam clean up, or IPA sometimes.

Does not the acetone have the potential to harm the plastic if applied directly?

If the acetone is applied only in the aria and in small amounts acetone makes for an excellent bonding agent for styrene. The trick is to use it sparingly and with precise application methods.

I use the Mr. Hobby paint thinner to clean my brush after using Mr. Surfacer products. I think its a toned down version of lacquer thinner or acetone.
