Raiden Interceptor, 1:48 Tamiya.

Dont ask me how this one came into being. Dont ask me how thro all the heat wave in the UK a few weeks back i started, built and finished this 43 year old kit. Again dont ask me how with all my MS symptoms flaring up with the change in weather i managed to do anything, never mind get some bench time. Coming out of the fog to find it in the completed state was astounding and was knotched up as a major achievement.
What follows will be mostly photos and not much dialogue cause i was running on Auto Pilot.
Now i dont know if i like the Raiden better than the Zero, but that might just be my excuse to build more of each till i decide
on to the pics...
What you get to play with.

a nice colour print.

Instructions

the sprues

initial base coating

Pilots getting with the Vogue.

Please take your seats.

getting ready for some serious clamping.

some not so serious clamping, its tamiya after all.

Apologies, the kit is 1 year older than me.

damn Klingons!!

now this is after Ultimate black primer then a layer of vallejo gloss black primer then vallejo Metal Color Aluminium 77.701. I definately know this cause thats what was sitting next to my spray booth. lol

after sponging vallejo chipping medium neat from the bottle on various areas and a layer of Tamiya XF-61 dark green and XF-66 light grey for the belly we were ready to mask the anti glare.

Mixed matt black with a touch of light blue.

you can see some discolouration where the chipping medium was applied below the green, its the darker splotches around panel lines etc.

a little water and a stiff brush...

Alclad aquagloss, this darkened the green which i wasnt happy about..maybe i laid it on too heavy?

the chipping, first go at trying it, learnt a few things.

oh yeah, the yellow ID strips on the wings were done in Vallejo IJA chrome yellow 71.135. which seems a bit bright so will darken it next time.
This is all the build photos i can find. Its close to the end anyways, decals wash with Ultimate dark dirt and that was her. If i do find any more photos ill add them later.
In the mean time heres a few of her finished. Illpost all finished pics in the relevent section, i took a few lol

Thanks for looking
