Kolibri Paint Brushes

Good to see you up and about on the forum again

I found this cool kids video on YouTube it shows the manufacture of YUP Kolibri Brushes.

Judging by the video they look all hand made, and what I've found on prices they are reasonably prices as well .

I would get a cheap starter set myself If it weren't for the fact I just got some ABC Brushes after seeing Paul's review on them. I got them as my use and abuse brushes. I also have a set of Windsor And Newton Series 7's for all my detail painting.

Hope your health has improved enough so that you can actually get to use them mate.

As always happy modeling and keep sticking styrene.

The Kolibri brushes are pretty good
I still use a few from the set i had
In my opinion they are pretty good value for money and the quality is pretty good
They aren't the absolute best brushes you can buy but they will get the job done and not at the same price as a series 7 brush wich is about 3 to 4 times more expensive

Hi Mark thanks for the input, they would be like a intermediate set, series 7 I'm luck to have a set but you would have to take out a small loan

Yeah series 7 brushes are a bit expensive
I have 4 of them and those are only the smaller ones like a 000 00 1 and 2
I saw a 14 or 16 once ,those are off the charts with about 90 euros a piece
To put that in perspective i can buy 2 dragon lits for that money
I only use my series 7 brushes for figures and to be honest that is why i even have them
I use a swan and norton value pack of brushes for my other builds
And for some paints i use the Kolibri brushes
Like the mr metal colors
The bristles are strong enough to resist the thinner i use to clean out the paint and most of my other brushes just get ruines by that stuff

But like you said they are good intermediate brushes and if you aren't willing to spend a small fortune on furry sticks then they are a good option
And because they aren't that expensive it doesn't hurt so much when one wears out

Just for the fun of it i checked the W&N site
A size 10 in a wooden box only set you back about 200 pounds
What are these things made of ?
The eyebrowns of mermaids maybe

Sounds about right for pigments and clay washes

With a price tag of "only" 200 GBP I would use it only for special stuf that needed applying: I'm thinking of things like solvaset, mr desoved putty and mr surfacer as these to are hard to find in Europe at a reasonable price

It seems only fitting to apply special stuff with a special brush from the No 7 W&N Range

They probably don't sell them everywhere
But i think i mixed up the names
I ment winsor and newton not swan and norton
I mixed it up because i was looking at some oilpaints while i was typing
They are red brushes and they are marter or kolinsky
Just not the same quality as the series 7

Swan Morten is Scalpels Pete that's what might have gotten in the mix somehow

I have never heard of brush soap....I shall have to google it.

It looks a bit like a solid block of shaving cream
It just cleans and preserves the hairs so it will stay pointy for a longer period of time
And it lasts for ages
I cleaned all my brushes with that stuff and managed to get some old ones back in shape and i hardly used any of that soap
Even after more then 30 brushes
And the stuff is pretty cheap aswell
I think i paid 4 or 5 euro's for a small tub
