Another from north of the border.

Post by Johnj »

Hi guy's
I've been building plastic kit's for more than 40yrs but only OOB with no weathering of any kind, or as somebody harshly called it - paint by number's (ouch). After looking through some of the stuff on here, you guy's have inspired me to lift it up a notch, or at least try. So many questions i dont know where to start.
mostly car's and bike's i do although i've built tamiy's 1/32 F-16 and spit in the last couple of year's. I'm building their 1/32 phantom at the moment and the mustang dropped through the door the other day so maybe there is a shift in direction happening !
I'm not sure if there's any interest in this but i also build and fly turbine R/C aircraft. Flying a 1/8 F-16 in thunderbird's colour scheme at the moment.

Cheer's, john

Thank's guy's
I'll need to figure out how to post pictures so i can have some help/pointer's for weathering this phantom im doing at the moment. I bought the kit back in 1999/2000 so i've been putting it off for long enough.

:hi: there John,

:welcome: to the ISM Forum. Any question you might have just stick it in the modeling chat section for any modeling related questions and I'm sure we will be able to give you a multitude of answers.

I don't think there is a dedicated RC section on the forum yet. If yo want to post pictures and updates just stick them in the everything els thread for now.

As always happy modeling and keep sticking styrene or balsa wood in your case ;)

Thanks paul. I'm just finding my way round the forum at the moment. I know from experienae that asking basic questions without doing a search first can get a bit tedious . Just thinking about it, i think i'll start another thread and up-load picture's as i"m going and if anybody see's where i can improve or any advice along the way would be great.
I'm not really sure where i fit in as i cant really be classed as a begginer after 40yrs of building kit's, but i've never came across anyone else's work untill i stumbled on this forum. Having looked at some of the work you guy's produce, you must be artist's as well as modeler's. It's absolutley top notch !

Struggling with downloading pictures straight from my phone guy's. This one came from my photobucket account which was easy enough. I'm assuming photobucket compresses the images ?
I'm a big bit out of my comfort zone with this stuff.

You'll fit in just fine. Just look around and you'll find your way.
And don't worry. I'm also a newbie with a few years of modelling on the clock. When I look around, I'm stunned as well.
Just post your works in the forum. No worries. By the look of the ones you've posted here, you're not as "newbie" as you think. I would be happy if I can reach the same level. ;-)

Thank you for the kind words of encouragement, i appriciate it. I'm getting through tamiya' big F4-J just now, i'll upload pictures to where i've got with it because i've started to paint the fusalage, wing's and vertical fin in a un-conventionall way. Some fresh set's of eye's looking over it might notice any trouble that may arrise from taking this approach.
Thank's, john
