Hi Nev this is going to a slooooooooooooow build,I know there quite a lot wrong with weld lines /bits missing I looked this one up a lot of white card & filler required

I didn't know this kit was still out there, where did you get it from? Do you know if that was an idea from Porsche or did the German staff became of with this vehicle on paper? With that crappy drivetrain, I wouldn't think anyone would have wanted to use it. anyway good start looking forward to the next update.

Notice the weld running through the tow lug.
used a razor saw to created the rough cutting marks on the extensions.
Used white card and used a razor saw to created the wider welding seams marks.

Made the jack, r/light.

Got a bit more done, fitted the jack block, cleaning rods, tow cable, tools etc, the jack block I roughed up to give the wood some texture ,four hooks for the spare track links. One error is the last link in the spares does not have link pin so I removed the head of the link pin on both sides drilled a hole through both links and added a piece of cooper wire.
Fixed the headlights added some wire to a connection cap.
Replaced the M/G from my spares box.
Added lead wights to give some body .

Finished the hull.
Started the turret.
Added internal weld seam.
Removed tack links, 64 sprues , 24 cuts per spues, 1,536 cuts in total.

Well I am rather surprised I missed this when it was first posted, since I absolutely love German armour. Best of luck with this one Pete, I have the same kit myself along with the Hintern so I am looking forward to seeing how it all comes together.

The design was created by Dr. Porsche leading on from the rejected VK 4501(P) which was his contender for the contract of the Tiger I tank. This and the VK 4502 Hintern were the two designs he proposed to Hitler in contention with the Tiger II. This vehicle was rejected and never had a prototype hull produced, but the turrets that Krupp manufactured for it were instead used on the first Tiger IIs known as the "Porsche Turret" design.

I gave the hull a coat of Gesso to give it a little bit of texture I used a stippling brush for this,
Then primed.
Yes I used a hairy stick.
The commander’s hatch can be made to be open, but to do this you need to add a length of rod so the hatch can stay open in the normal position.
Made up the other hatch's.
The loaders hatch opening bracket is not connect to anything.There is a part of the hydraulic mechanism that connects to the hatch used to open and close the hatch. I will make a plastic rod with a U couple from strip plastic to connect the hatch.

Made up missing hydraulic rod that connects the hatch to the cylinder which is used to open and close the hatch. I used plastic rod and made a U couple from strip plastic to connect the hatch.
Cleaned up all the shells.
The racks do not fit however without modification. There are two tabs on the inside top of the turret where these racks are supposed to mount. In order to get these to mount the rear side of the rack needs to be sanded to fit

The drive mechanism has several fit and instruction issues.In the instructions part G47 is installed where G46 is supposed to go, so beware .The assembly that fits to part G25 cut off mounting pins .

Finish off the rest of the gun breech assembly and the turret MG, the instructions are not good at this point. I also found that the mounted MG’s did not have a shoulder stock so I cut it off.
Made up the barrel. There are up grade barrels available but what I have found out is everyone has had big fitting problems
