Meng, 1:35 VsKfz 617 (Minenräumer) (#SS-001)

Next project. ΕT Models (ET E35-17) PE is on its way. If there is any delay, I will build it OOB.
In any case, the PE can still be useful, since I have 2 more kits

I'm thinking of an abandoned-rusted vehicle.... Will see...

Good evening
Please check out my build on this lovely model. Note the instructions for the MG are back to front.
You'll do a lovely job anyhow.
GL and ace job.

Thanks a lot John. I will definitely do that!

I'm hoping to start working on the kit mid next week, after getting back from vacations. Cheers.

After some long delay, I have decided to start this project. I have also received the E.T. Model PE.

I ignored the instruction steps and jumped to Step 12 for the construction of the rear wheel (10 shoes).
Some sanding is needed to remove the seam lines and careful gluing is required to have a workable wheel.

Half way through .... Hope to complete the rear wheel tomorrow :th:

InitialProduction1, many thanks mate!

I have just completed and tested the rear wheel. As in the real vehicle, 3 shoes should more or less touch the ground, so I guess I'm ok... I will do some more sanding to improve some areas, and also produce some cast texture on the tracks .... I'm now working on the front wheels ....

I continued with Step 9 - the front wheels. All seam lines were removed, but unlike the rear wheel, there are sink marks that need to be filled up. (A few of them are really deep!) Also, I used a rasp to open up the tightness in the slots and removed some notches. I will leave them to dry overnight - I will do the sanding tomorrow.

Wow that looks mine numbingly tedious wavelet. Good looking. I have RPM's Minenraumer, and it looks like a hand full to say the least. Again cool.

InitialProduction1 Thanks mate! Sanding is done

I can now proceed to complete the front wheels. I will also give the shoes some casting texture as in the real vehicle.

Davethepitch Very strange indeed mate but pretty and interesting!

I have managed to complete the front wheels. So far so good :th:

I will now make some cast texture on the shoes of the wheels and then continue with the lower hull ....

I thinned the back plates of the front wheels considerably to allow a better fit. I opened the holes for the chain. Cast texture was created where needed. Missing welds and flame-cut edges were also added.

A few more welds have been created.

With the tip of the xacto knife, I made the marks from the chain on the back wheel.

I decided not to use the E.T. Model PE set. I will keep it for another kit I have for a future project. However, with careful sanding some plastic parts on the lower hull were thinned to look closer on scale.

I upload some photos of the real vehicle, so one can see the round shape on the sides of front wheels, the cast texture on the shoes of the wheels, the cast texture and the marks from the chains on the side of the back wheel, the flame-cut edges, etc...

I guess the build is almost complete. I just need to use the nuts and bolds set from Meng in order to attach the chain on the back wheel. The wheels have been temporarily attached to the vehicle. I will paint and weather them separately. By the way, the MG34's were mounted on the turret in the correct order!

That is one weird machine and it would not look out of place in Star Wars.
