Netflix uk recently added all the Star Trek series, and I'm just watching an episode of Voyager.

Star Fleet is a bloated bureaucracy that's pretty socialist with the resulting union type attitude. If the guys in the paint shop figure 1) they won't get fired for screwing up, and 2) the worst that will happen is they'll get paid overtime to fix it if anyone notices, then that's what you get.

Now the Rebel Alliance is due some respect. Underpaid or volunteer staff working on a shoestring budget, making do with what's on hand, all while playing hide and seek with their lives....
