Hey everyone, another Portuguese saying hi, and joining the party!
A bit of background...
Back in 1987, here in the sunny south of Portugal, i built my first kit, which i'm not sure but think it was either the Hasegawa 1/72 EA-AB Prowler or the Esci 1/72 F-16A "Electric Fighter".
With little help from my dad or anyone else, i obviously didn't go any further than assembling fuselage, wings and stabs, and every model was deemed ready for living room flight...
Did the same to a few more kits and by the age of 12, i found BMX bikes and spent the next 20 years doing that and lots of other stuff, but no modelling...
Back in 2013, i had an accident at work, wound up with a severely broken wrist. One day, during the recovery process, i was laying on the couch and Top Gun comes on TV...
20+ years trip down memory lane, and by the end of the intro scene, i was looking up plastic models of the Tomcat on the web.
The following day i went out to the same hobby store where i'd bought some of the models i built when i was a kid, to buy some essentials like glue, paint and brushes. By coincidence, there was a Revell 1/72 F-14D on the shelf.
That was the first victim of my comeback and during the next few months, i built around 20 models, but i wasn't very happy with how things were going, so i decided to hold all builds and try to learn more instead of just building and not being satisfied with the results.
So, after buying an airbrush/compressor setup, i got back to finishing the models, but using them as test subjects, trying something new on each build.
Now, i'm almost done with what i've come to call my stalled builds pile, and although i'm still far from what i want to achieve on my models, i've also built a few more models along the way.
With time, i'll setup a gallery of my finished models and a thread for the bench updates... as soon as i take a good look around and figure out where those are supposed to be.
See you around!
Zen
