I've not used any of these yet but am looking into maybe getting some and just have a noob question.

If there are 2 different colour filters for the one base coat would anyone use them both? Is there an advantage for this or is it just overkill and you should choose what you deem the best and stick with that one colour.

Or maybe are filters just a rip off and you should just stick with methods like colour modulation, which I have yet to use also.

They are just used to change the tone of your paintwork. Say you wanted the olive green to be warmer in parts to give contrasts. You can make them up with oil paints and white spirit
I have a ratio somewhere will try and dig out later tonight.

Also don't do what I did and buy a massive amount of ak & Mig filter wash type products and have them sitting around for a long time. Mine all separated when I did get round to finally using some!

Damn I just ordered some. .... Do you have any idea how long they took to separate and can they be remixed.

I use oils for filters and washes with odourless oil paint thinner to dilute the paint, loads of info on the net about mix ratios and loads of vids on Youtube as well. Plus as I read others mention the colour variations you can achieve are endless just by mixing different paints and a small artists tube will last a lifetime.......and yes you can use multiple layers of filters on top of each other.

About 6 months though I let them sit. I think as long as you use and keep agitating you should be ok! just make sure the pigment does not separate from the carrier like mine did.

I've got 4 AK and Ammo washes that I've had for at least 3 months and they're fine (I just checked) but I've used them a couple of times, they've not just been sat there. Nevs probably right, give them a good shake every now and then.
