Decal on decals

Post by onemac »

Hi folks. Doing Revell's 1/32 scale Hunter FGA9 and the UK red, white and blue roundels for the wings and fuselage are blue and white with the red centre separate. Do I put them on at the same time and put the red Sol solution on top of both or do them separately waiting for how long before adding the red centres?

Thanks for your help.

Don't mean to be rude, but those decals....argh !!! Buy some aftermarket goodies or paint your own. You end up with a raised bump that can be noticeable and decals don't stick to decals well and can just fall off. Wait for the first to dry then apply one thin coat of gloss varnish then apply the second one. This is the way I have done it, it may not be correct. So I don't use those decals anymore, way too much trouble.

I wouldn't have replied to your post , cause I only had the one experience with them. Not even sure many manufactures even have them anymore, but nobody else seemed to be answering so I chucked my 2 cents in. :cheers2:

Thanks for the reply digger - I'm not so worried about the final outlook as it's my first attempt in almost 40 years and first time using an airbrush. To date the finish is less than perfect so a lumpy decal is the least of my worries. I figured on using the Set and Sol on the first decal and leaving it to dry thoroughly before applying the second but I may try your idea of a varnish coat between applications.

Thanks again for your 2 cents worth.
