I decided to take part also. It was impulsive buy And I will try some new colors. After I saw the build of Mark I bougth also SBD-5 from Eduard.

Color scheme will be plane from USS Princeton, Lt. Richard E. Stambrook, VF-27.

Here is some info regarding the plane:

Surely, among the most recognizable markings carried by US Navy aircraft must be those of the Hellcats of VF-27 flying off of the USS Princeton. Their sharkmouths and bloodshot, menacing eyes seared themselves into the memories of many Japanese pilots. The uncommon and unofficial markings were painted on to the front of all of VF-27's aircraft by one of its pilots, Robert Burnell. These birds, adorned in this way, wreaked havoc everywhere they engaged in combat over the Pacific from May to October, 1944. During this span, some 200 enemy aircraft were claimed. The end of combat for VF-27 came on October 24th, 1944, when the Princeton was hit with a catastrophic fire caused by a Japanese bomb, and was ultimately sunk, after being evacuated, by her own crews and units. Hellcat bearing the number '17' was the personal aircraft of Lt. R. E. Stambook, who served with, besides VF-27, VS-3 on the SBD Dauntless, and with VF-3 and VF-6 on Wildcats. During the course of his combat career, he attained 11 kills.

I was curious, how it will go together, I spent some time with painting and detailing.

This kit is going together like a charm. And because I am working from home I can spend some time with building. Interior was washed using Tamiya panel line accent color. Some chipping on the seat and floor.

Engine was painted with AK Xtreme Metal Alluminium and washed again with the Tamiya wash.

As the group build continues to finish, I am also putting into the build as much effort as possible It seems this will be possible for me to finish. Some parts of the kit is showing its age, but still is not that bad. If for example Revell had the same level...

I used Vallejo putty for the small corrections as it is possible to sand it quickly and it could be cleaned by thinner.

Here is the Hellcat itself primed with Ultimate Primer. Primer was airbrushed with my H&S Ultra 0.2mm nozzle.

And the last set of pictures. Small bits left for applying after the painting. I will be using Hataka US Navy late set. White color has good coverage on the first run, so with the 2nd layer it will be nicely covered.

Wheels are from Brassin and they look incredibly. Great addition already included in the box.

Thanks for a kind words. Problem is the weather here. So hot in the evening, that I am not in the mood of modelling. I airbrushed the kit already, but not pictures yet. Hope I will finish it till the end of the GB
