Iwata neo or h&s ultra

Hey guys looking to get a new airbrush to replace my Chinese one and was wondering which is best, iwata neo or H&s ultra

Ultra all day long IMO and I've owned both, the ultra is a quality german made brush the neo is sadly a chinese airbrush made for iwata (not by them)

I bought an ultra after doing ALOT of research, couldnt be happier with it. I got the 2in1 so it covers all my needs, following Mr Bretlands advice i upgraded to the pinch tip to make it easier to clean.
I use Vallejo paints and occasionally have issues with dry tipping, the pinch tip makes it a doddle to sort out and has really put the enjoyment into airbrushing for me.

The Neo is fine but there's no upgrades or changes available for it (other than the larger cup included).
The Ultra gives you choices in needle sizes, tip styles etc. You'll probably still use the Chinese one for the large, dirty jobs (primers, spraying Ultimate weathering etc) and use the Ultra (probably with a .2 needle) for the finer work. At some point the Chinese one will give up, start acting up, or just not be fancy enough for you any more, and if you get another H&S (Evo, etc) everything but the cup will switch over to the other brush.
The biggest difference between the Ultra and the Neo. The Neo will be taken apart just like the Chinese brush, using a spanner, a nozzle that will be lost if you drop it, and the risk of damaging the brush by over-tightening with the spanner. The H&S line has a bigger nozzle that can be found if dropped, doesn't use any tools for stripdowns, and you can't over-tighten the nozzle, it's fitted into place by compression from the nozzle cap.
The Neo isn't bad, it's just that the Ultra is better.

Very helpful thread, which has changed my mind on which airbrush should be my first. I had decided on the Eclipse CS but the Ultra seems the better choice for a beginner, if only because of the price point

I've got H&S Evolution CRPlus and it's lovely got both .2 and .4 needles/nozzles. I've also got a Saprmax Max4 which I have to say is as well made as the H&S not in the same league but still very well made and it has adjustable flow as standard you don't get that with Evolution CRplus and for £40 it's amazing I've also noticed there's a link on H&S web site to Sparmax products and the Max4 looks amazing like Hansa 381 chrome, which I think H&S make.
