I will cut her open tonight and do some photos of her insides

This is the style of paint scheme I am interested in, make her into a Gulf Livery Hauler

Excited to do the build, just a bit overwhelmed with lack of spare time

Gulf colors?!

Wait a tic...

:pop:

If you do a dio you really need to add a little sign that says "Car Not Included"

Good idea!
The Ford GT40 I want for the back of this is proving to be an elusive kit
Of course I am not buying any other model kits and have not been buying kits

;)

You'd think they'd manufacture the hell out of the GT40 but no.

Indeed, lots of kits but not one good one and ALL are pricey
Wish me luck on sneaking a 1/25 semi truck home past the wife

He he gents, I have successful sneaked, snucked, slithered or whatevered the box into the house to my model desk....she was barbecuing so out on the deck and I went for it

I know why I model; it is to get a big box at work during a hard day, open it to find cool models and then get to cut off that plastic wrap and lift the lid...ahhhh just like being a kid again, such a rush

I have to do sneaky spy shots so I don't get busted
Back of box has sprue outline

I can't wait to see this build even though I get so mad when I build throwback AMT kits.

It depends on whether or not Round 2 made new molds or not. You may run into a lot of flash. Sometimes details are soft and fitment is poor.

Ah ok, sounds good I will keep an eye open. Always good knowing to go in expecting a fight
As a young teen I swore off American model manufacturers and went Japanese for better engineering....wheels that rolled, tires moulded in one piece and felt like real rubber, suspensions that were, well really a suspension

I got a chance to stuff all the sprues into the photo cube and snap a quick pic before it went back into hiding
Poor Kevin the minion is buried in styrene. Look at those long frame rails standing up!!!
Image

She is a big girl!!
The side of the carrier as compared to my 1/200 747 model
Image

747 is 11 inches and then add 5 inch cab and hood and the truck will be a good 16 inches long!!!
That is gonna be hard to hide for long :shhh:

My rough musings on color schemes
Image

And from above a stripe down the middle, might even make it an arrow point
Image

I don't have the alignment right for body, platform and fuel tanks.
The orange line is not possible as straight as I drew since fuel tanks are wrong
Anyhow, a work in progress

Out of the starting blocks
Beginnings of the engine assembly...yep fitment is interesting. Arranging it to sit on my well used engine stand. Have hand drilled out some of the bolt heads to replace with plastic bolts after painting. Heads are sitting on loose. I will likely do coloured gaskets to seal the gaping holes in heads and oil pan
Image

I have just realized after looking at my picture and the label on the bottle that "TET" cement is Tamiya Extra Thin....duhh.
I was thinking tri-ethyl-toluene or something godawful like that.
Live and learn

Today, I just missed out on an original issue AMT Ford LN9000 Short Hauler. It went for just over $20.00 USD + shipping.

Yup, I bid at 12 sec remaining, but another bidder set up a higher automatic bid.

Oh I am feeling so guilty, have not touched it for weeks :shifty: The kit is sitting in its box no further along than my last post.
So far though it is ok and not very much flash.

We do have until the end of December I believe. I think the end date was wrong in the Sept news show video.
God, having major mojo motivation issues in all my builds at the moment. Too damn busy and tired

Updated my post thread, got frame together and primered grey (stuck on gloss black,as normal or paint same color as cab) hood and cab/sleeper painted burgandy red metallic, layed out a stripe design but not final. And painted the engine, with a small amount of detail done.

Yes sad build thread for me
Kit is in a box under two other boxes and has had zero done to it to move forward
Maybe I can pull her out of the dark this weekend for the engine build
