Hasslefree 40mm Kalee Double pack

Post by T3hGuppy »

Okay not to let Coen have all the early glory :nena:

This is what I will be doing for this build. (Well to start with anyway)

I'm a big fan of Hasslefree miniatures and when I saw this pack I had to get it.

The figures are alternate sculpts of the same girl and the detail is extremely good.
Haven't painted that many female figures and will be nice to challenge myself with female skin tones (Quite alot on one of the sculpts  )

Also want to use airbrush for the base-coats as I haven't done this yet only primers.

I recommend giving Hasslefree a look if your still looking for a figure to paint.

Are you going to dress that base up at all?
I know dioramas are a no no... but a scenic base or a miro-vignette maybe... Lee?
I'm also asking for me... if I were to add some static grass and some dirt to mine... it's still the base that came with it.
Just prettier.

Yeah I do want to do some thing with the base bit boring as is.

Was thinking one indoors like a cobbled floor.
And the other outdoors on grass sand etc.

Hopefully basing is allowed. Help to add a sense of place to a figure.

If there is a base with the kit then fine. This is an OOB build so, no improv I'm afraid. I suppose a couple of tufts of grass, pebbles or a small branch would be fine but, that's it fellas...

You can always add a base after you've done all the pictures for the GB etc :th:

Before I saw this thread I have been looking around for a figure to possibly enter into this. And I kept looking for like semi-nude fantasy girl figures etc as well!

I blame Lenny for his fallen angel with the big boobies!

Great stuff.
Hasslefree is a husband and wife outfit - Mr does the sculpting. I one heard a podcast interview with Mrs H in which she laughingly described her husband's work bench and his amassed 'research material'.
I look forward to this one come to life.

This figure reminds me of my wife waiting on the doorstep for me when ive had a late night out with the boys (In my dreams). I think she will look stunning when painted and dont rush the research side of things.

Right then so wasn't up for doing any more on the TA 152 so I've made a start.

Just a few things to remember when working with resin.

Its pretty nasty stuff so when filing and cleaning up the parts its a good Idea to open a window or wear a mask.

And also you will need to use CA or equivalent to glue the parts as poly cement extra thin wont have any effect.

Right first off I gave them a wash in warm soapy water (Insert dirty comment here ...)

Once these where dry I got on with construction each girl is made up of 5 parts so this didn't take long.
Clean up was minimal.

I pinned the bodies to the bases to ensure they wont fall off during painting.

This was done by drilling small holes in the base of the feet and then glueing so fine wire in the hole and then to the base.
Image

Normally for war gaming miniatures id repeat this with all the parts but as these are just for display I didn't bother.
Okay on to the photo shoot of them both built and ready for primer.

No. 1 Armoured version.
ImageImage
ImageImage

No. 2 Unarmoured version.
ImageImage
ImageImage

The parts are interchangeable between the 2 figures so this is just what I liked the look of.

And finally a shot with a paint bottle to show scale.
Image

Really happy with these the detail is fantastic for the scale down to strands of hair and undercut parts.

That's all for now until I decide on the colours for these beauties.

Right so painting has started on these two.

Right so got them both primed.
Image
Now I'm going to do these one from white and one from black primer.
I'll be using the same colours on both so it will clearly show the different effect the final colours will have when you do this.

Hoping that this will be useful for deciding what primer to use for anyone who isn't sure why you would use different colours of primer/basecoat.

I will do side by side of each step.

More to follow soon.
