The experience shows, I can't show much at the beginning. The lower hull consists of several parts. To connect the side portions reasonable tamiya has donated a bulkhead to the engine. The cover to the gearbox has a beautiful cast structure...

The back is also beautifully detailed.
The gear cover is adhered to the hull.
I had some difficulties, how deflector is mounted. After I asked the Internet, it became clear to me. I opted for the folded-up version, so you can see more from the stern.

The main purpose of the deflector was to keep road dust down to prevent artillery from spotting moving tanks. This apparently wasn't perceived as a problem until the tanks got into combat, hence the early Sherman designs (M4, M4A1, M4A2, and M4A4) lack deflectors and later revisions all had them. It appears the lever that swung out from the center of the grill was used to maneuver the deflector up and down. It was either folded up and propped out of the way to access the engine, or it was folded down.

I sanded the rollers to get an used look.
Also the turret must be sanded. I would have found it better, if they had attached the two halves lower. So you have to rework much of the cast- surface.

Shortly before painting, I mounted nearly all parts.
Everything was primed in tank-grey. Large areas, hatches and covers were highlighted in white. This pre-shading make the paintjob more interesting. Otherwise it looks a bit monotonous.
