Global Scale Modeller

I presume this should be acceptable. It will be my first venture into Vinyl modelling... and figure modelling. The end result is likely to be about a foot tall including the base.





Due to the method of construction I am hopeful I will be able to avoid filling and sanding.

What scale is it?

This looks like a nice build. It will be interesting to see how you tackle Quarks shirt, it could be nearly as challenging as Coen's Tartan!

There is no scale mentioned on the box, but I would reckon it is 1/6.

I just took a close look at the shirt on the box. I expect I will do the light colour and see what I can achieve with a fine brush!

Maybe I should have gone with Odo...

OK, I don't actually have a specific modelling area.

I opened the bag that the parts for this came in and trimmed the excess vinyl off the head with a craft knife. As far as I could see, the other parts would be best served with a razor saw. I do have a nice Tamiya Razor saw... somewhere.

I have various tools (I got some with a Revell kit once) plus that saw. The only things I can find at the moment are various craft knives! I must have put the the other bits and pieces somewhere safe...

Having given up trying to find my tools, I resorted to a heavy duty craft knife (never used before so the blade was sharp) and attacked the excess vinyl with that. I now need to do some cleaning up and smoothing of the mating surfaces and figure out what needs filling (I suspect the shoulder joints may be the main candidates).

The Ferengi were the best characters on Deep Space 9, I liked his fool of a brother Rom. Pity they never made a kit of him as well, they would have looked good together.

Don't forget to put some weight in the legs before you glue him together to stop him falling over
