My latest build. Only been building for the last 2 months, been on a 18 year long break from this hobby.
I humbly present my version of The Maiale (The Pig).

I tried out the Pledge trick on the diver. Coated it twice to give it the wet look. But im really bad at painting figures. The kit comes with 2 divers. I preferred to focus my main attention on the torpedo.

Very different and nicely done! Help me understand how this works; the divers drive the torpedo to the target and then jump ship?

From what i understand. They submerge, drive it into an allied harbor. Attach the torpedo with chains under the ship, set a timed fuse and swim away. If i remember correctly, they successfully sank 4 allied ships during the WW2.

On a side note. The Italian frogmen/attack-divers were issued the first ever dive watches for professional use. The Panerai Radiomir Brevattato. Question is if not the watch was more dangerous then their missions because of the luminous dial that was highly radioactive.

Yup, strange but fun. The kit was given to me by a friend who is into watches and wanted me to build it for him. This was the first time i worked with a little PE.

I discover the "Maiale" while I was a kid going through some WWII books that my father had at home (yeah, I was a strange kid!!! ). I remember I was really impressed how clever this device was!!! Anyway, a quick Google search and just found this site. Enjoy!!!

I searched the net for some good photos but the colored ones are of museum pieces. Hard to find a color scheme that represents the majority. So i ended up with a color that was in the ref-booklet that came with the kit, a grey with a greenish tint.

Dont get me started on the diver...2 comes with the kit and im really bad at painting figures. Lets pretend that one of them got lost at sea.

Looks good to me. The missing diver must have off fallen off the Maiale. Or perhaps he deserted. Afterall, ambushing heavily guarded warships is not for the faint hearted mariner.

Yup seen the first one. But not the other 2. That build in the second link though.. Wish i was that good.
