How to Post progress?

Hey guys, I have started a new topic http://internationalscalemodeller.com/v ... 0aabab6945 in the I Hart Tamiya group build section but I don't know if I'm managing it correctly. I want my new submissions to show up as new posts in the Quick Links tab but I dont know if I am posting correctly. I have just been hitting replay in the original topic to add progress. Am I posting correctly? Is there a better way for me to show my progress so that I ensure its getting out to you all?

The reason I ask is that I replied to the topic mentioned above a couple of days ago with a video I made and I noticed today that not a single person has watched the video. To me this just seemed strange. I mean you would think that at least admin would have looked at it to make sure someone didn't post so inappropriate footage in the forum. After all there are kids here.... What am I doing wrong?

Hey kevin, yes your posting your build progress just fine.

First off sadly videos don't get many comments as forums thrive on written word and pictures so sadly videos often don't get watched. Even ISM videos don't get a huge amount of comments on the forum.

The forum is very busy so not all threads get commented on right away or all the time, but people do still stop by and look at your builds, and will comment when deemed suitable.

As admin to the forum, facebook page and you the channel i myself sadly don't get chance to read every thread every day, but i am always active on the forum , facebook page and channel and read anything that catches my eye. We also have great members that report unsuitable posts to the admin team. Also with making videos for the channel, dealing with Ultimate modelling products of the business and also enjoying the hobby itself i also have a family too, which all takes up a huge amount of time in my day.

I hope you continue your build thread and enjoy the forum just don't get too hung up on comments and views, people do still read and enjoy, just not all have time to comment on every thread.

Hello price! I hope this reply finds you doing well. Glancing at your thread, it seems that everything is in order and that everything is visible and accessible to readers. As for the viewers that you do and/or do not have on videos: We as administrators have no control as to what our members read and watch in a person's thread. I know that many times, people will look at pictures and may not look at videos as they are stopping in for a quick update on progress. There are currently 68 threads ongoing in this build, as well as 33 unfinished threads in the "if it floats" build, 11 threads ongoing in Paul's revisited builds, 26 unfinished threads in the sci-fi builds, 9 in the east-bound builds, and 25 threads going in the "M" build. And to be accurate, that is not all of the current active build threads. It is not surprising that you have had no views over two days.

As for the comment about administration not watching your video; you do realize that there are hundreds of threads that we have to view each day. We stay invisible, as that is the best way for us to do our job and not interfere with the flow of a thread (unless it is warranted). As the GB/SiG Leader here on ISM, I will only comment on threads in order to push them if they stall; I do not wish to give the impression of bias nor do I have the time to comment on over two pages of posts each day. I am sure you can empathize. One can rest assured, if inappropriate content was discovered on a video, that member would be dealt with immediately and swiftly. With the forums, Facebook page, live show, and personal model related stuff, I do not have time to look at each video released by all members. If I see something in the build thread that peaks my interest, I then take a look to find out more. I myself have made videos, and appreciate the hard work put into filming and editing material. But I do hope that you understand myself, or any of the other administrators have the time to look at each video linked on here each day. I wish you continued success, and hope that you have a great week!

Your build thread has been viewed 95 times as I post this.

The video will get more views if you use the "youtube" button in the full editor. Also, I'm not sure that youtube counts linked views (i.e. views that come from a hotlink, such as in your update, may not count as viewed by youtube, possibly it's to hold down the statistics of the video in case it's monetized, saving youtube money).

Again, I'm sorry if my thread came across as negative towards the ADMIN, my intent was not to bash what you are doing in any way, I was just using this example to illustrate my concern that I was doing something wrong...... ( the post was about me not you)...... I know what goes into being an admin and I understand that there is life outside of this forum. I do not what you to think that I am complaining or questioning anything you all are doing, because I am not. I'm just making sure that I'm doing things right. I'm very excited about this forum and am working hard to contribute here, please understand that. Also, I apologize if I offended you in any way.

YouTube button? Ill have to take a look for that Ill go edit my post now to see If I can fix that. Thanks for your help.

Open the video and copy the address from your browser web bar (top of screen).

In your post, place the cursor where you want the video and click the youtube button. Two (youtube) bits will appear, get the cursor between them and paste the youtube address you copied. The address contains some gobbled-gook, the a equals sign and them more stuff. It's the third part you want, delete the first part and the equals sign but leave the last part. That's it done.

I have to agree with Paul. I am a self confessed skimmer-surfer and will look at photos and then text if the pics grab me.
If only videos posted, I usually skip them
