Hobby Boss M1070

Hi,
I'm currently building the M1070 and have a small problem. I'm at the stage where ducting has to be added to the trailer and for the life of me I cant make it happen. The wire has copper inside of it and a small amount of it must be removed from the inside so that it can be glued to the plastic...I cant get it out,,!!

Is anyone here building this model,,?, have you even added the ducting considering it will be completely out of site when the model is assembled unless you are showing it upside down,,!!

If you have not used the wire included, what have you used to replace it,,?
ANY, help hints or tips would be greatly appreciated guys,,
