Finally cleared a space on the bench to start this hunk of styrene, a 1992 revell monogram kit complete with the date markings moulded onto the outside of the wing.

As this appears to be a surveillance version i will be having to remove that (I'm assuming) radar/sensor bulge on the underside and fair it in then scribe in some bomb bay doors.

It looks very nice to be honest and it is a reasonable size. are you going to build it soon? please make sure you post photos

It's on the bench and to be honest producing a metric butt ton of sanding dust already Antonio, i look like I've been baking with kids!

This morning i decided to attempt to remove the sensor dome on the underside of the fuselage and fill the gaping hole left behind, I'm doing this to convert it to the bomber rather than surveillance version.
Firstly using a combination of razor saw and rotary tool i removed as much as i dared and then set to the remnants with a coarse sanding stick. To provide some strength and somewhere to fill in to i glued some cut up sprue to the inside of the fuselage, next came time to get creative! Using tracing paper ( that bit of paper that is supposed to protect the decals but is usually to be found floating about inside the bottom of the box) i made a stencil and traced this out onto sheet styrene, two at full size then four more getting progressively smaller using the previous piece as a guide.
These were then layered into the hole until just proud of the fuselage using tamiya white top cement, once this had set it was time for filler, in this case squadron green thinned with lacquer thinner. Then it was just a case of letting that dry and sanding like a dervish to smooth it all out and fair it in with the lines of the original fuselage.

Thanks for watching Jason, yeah she is a big lump, especially given the scale, probably gonna hang her from the ceiling somewhere as long as it avoids the bin first.

Construction continues, the wings and nascelles were altogether ill fitting with gaps and steps galore, gonna need some more filler at this rate! Then came time to mask off the windows, just as big of a pain in the butt with almost non existent framing it was more a case of trying to rwmember where the actual glass was and doing it that way.
Thankfully the tail end and fuselage fit/wing roots were much better so once the major surgery had been accomplished it all came together fairly quickly. Next up is primer and seam checking.

A good blast of Ultimate primer followed by masking of some panels and some streaking to get some variance in the top coat followed by a couple of thin coats of vallejo metal colour aluminium.

once this is dry a quick coat of aquagloss then my nemesis...decals!

And now following masking off the engine nascelles and some various other bits, always a scary proposition on a bmf, a quick coat of alclad steel on the nascelles/wings and some blue bits along with the anti glare panel a coat of aquagloss. Then after allowing that to cure overnight the decals of which there were surprisingly few and they behaved themselves were applied and overcoated with more aquagloss.
This was followed by an all over wash of Ultimate dark dirt which was then cleaned off with a damp piece of kitchen roll (or two). Now to brave painting the prop tips and leading edge strips.

Got the exhaust stains done, a mix of tamiya smoke, semi gloss black and some vallejo matt varnish thinned with some mlt. Put the matt varnish in there as i didn't want glossy exhaust stains and with a nmf i didn't want to be spraying a matt coat on it either. Just the props to finish up and she will be done.

Firstly what a beast, I thought a B17-G was big at 1/72 but this must be a true monster in real life, I don't understand your abbreviated terms, sorry so there were small bits I did not know what you were referring to, but that's just something I will have to learn, your paint work is fantastic, I'm not entirely sure but I think your also the same guy that made a video on a harder&steenbeck air brush you purchased? Also a brave move (from my point of view) removing the sensor dome, I would be too scared to attempt it at my current skill level, enjoyed watching and reading your build.
