Lighting

Hi
im looking to light some car models in future and am looking for ideas.
I want to light with led's, I also want to add independent flashing indicators.
be very grateful if anybody could give me advice/diagrams or point me in the right direction.

Hi Bap, you may want to check out Arduino. It will take some learning, but i think it should handle all the requirements you have. The wiring and LED's you'll need to figure out. But one board will give you control over turning lights on/off and making them blink at a set interval.

Yes, it's def. possible with an Arduino, even though this can get a bit pricey if you want to light several models. An Arduino Micro or Nano is more than enough. If you wish, I can help you in the future with programming. (It's really not that complicated. It has a nice Ui/Software) If you want to permanently install it, you will need a soldering iron.


Another option is to use an IC.


they are very cheap...like 0.5$ but are more difficult to program. (you will need some programming knowledge in C or C++ for example)

Woodland Scenics does some LED kits that are meant for buildings, but you might be able to work them into a car kit (you may need a bigger hammer).

I've done a bit of research. You can easily program an IC like the ATtiny85 with an Arduino.
So all you need would be an IC, some LEDs and resistors, a 5V PSU and some wires, etc.. All in all probably around 10$.
