While I was just building along, it occured to me that I hadn't updated this thread...
Now I'll just tell you what I did so far and what I found out during the process.
This is going to be boring
The Revell kit falls together. So well I doubt this is a genuine Revell kit as stated earlier. Nice job Zvezda
So far for the plastic. As a kit doesn't complete without paint we've also arrived at the weaker point of this kit : The color call out. Especially the camo. In short it
well you know... starts ith an S and has an U, C, K and S in it.
The colors are way of. Mixing three or more Revell Aqua colors together (as Revell suggests), to get an even more stupid color. So I went on the prowl for other call outs. In the end I've managed to get the blue-ish - Grey/blue-ish finish which isn't still spot on but OK for me.
The metal colors I've used are Revell Aqua, MrHobby buffable for the burner cans, and AK True metal aluminium and gun metal (messy stuff
). Gloss coat will be Aqua gloss.
Weathering with Ultimate washes. Some panel line accents with oil and I might try the aquarel (water) pencils and see how that turns out. To add some dirt I will use some pastels and Revell's pigments.
Anyway, we're almost there. Really enjoyed it so far I might build it again (not the Revell one) in 1/48th.
What still needs to be done?
- Weaponry painted and added
- Some smaller bits added (pitot tubes, etc...)
- Gloss coat
- Decals
- Gloss coat
- Weathering
- Dull coat
So still much to do but once finished it's back to the Spook
Do I recommend this kit ?
Yes and No.
Yes as it builds up nicely.
Yes for the amount of ordonance provided in the kit.
No for the color call out. (Get your references out peepz)
But that's just my personal opinion for what it's worth.
