Revell 1/72 Focke Wulf FW190 A8/R11

Post by Gav0909 »

So I started this a while back, but stuck it on the "shelf of doom" for a while due to issues with the masking tape pulling paint off right down to the plastic. Recently I thought instead of starting any new kits I better finish the part done ones on the "shelf of doom", hence the Bf110C recently, and now this.

This kit was easy to put together, some parts were a bit burred and there was a chunk of flash around, but the detail parts were thin and scaled well, and it built up nicely, and fitted well. There are some areas I see now I should have paid more attention too, such as the fuselage spine and front of the tail fin.

I tried to do the mottling with the airbrush, but couldn't get it fine enough and it looked a mess, so I hand painted the mottles and then lightly airbrushed the RLM 65 pale blue over the top to blend them in a bit, and I am happier with that effect.

Comments and any critiscms are most welcome.

Cheers

Nice looking kit with good paint techniques. I think I would have tried to make the mottling a touch smaller by using a sponge application, but that is just a personal opinion :)

Looks awesome Gav, almost makes me want to go out and get a 190, e en when I'm not really a 190 fan

I dare not attempt anything like that exhaust staining yet, not brave enough.
Stuning work.

Cheers all.

Michael, the swirl is a decal that came in the kit - cheating! lol.

cheers Gav - my mistake i thought it was the airfix kit, that does not have the swirl as a decal for some reason :

Bugger.
You gotta stop making these dude.
