1/48 Academy MiG-21MF

This is my next build, Academy's 1/48 MiG-21MF.
This is the Polish Air Force's special Swordfish scheme, celebrating 45 years of the MiG-21, belonging to the 3rd Fighter Aviation Regiment (PLM).
The kit has good detail, with some PE and Cartograph decals.
I'm adding an Aires resin cockpit, Eduard fabric seat belts, CMK engine set, and Quickboost air scoops.

Cockpit coming along, and fuselage sections assembled. Kits going together well.
I gave up with the fabric seat belts, I found them very frustrating, but at least I gave them a try. So I've resorted to the PE belts from the Aires cockpit set, and it's all good.

Painted in all the detailing, and FOD covers.
Then all the required parts sprayed with some Alclad Aqua Gloss, so now I'm ready to start the decals.

Some progress with the Swordfish decals, and all finished. Generous amounts of Micro Set & Sol has been used.
It is fiddly, it is time consuming, it does not look too pretty......but they are going on!
Each Swordfish consists of 12 individual decals. The piece that goes over the wing-root, and upper fuselage, is a single piece. This I've cut , so as to make applying the decal easier, which seems to have paid off.

Nearly there!
Decals all finished, and a couple of coats of Alclads Aqua Gloss. Very pleased with the way the Swordfish decals have turned out.
A dark dirt wash was used, and cleaned up. I've done the minimal amount of weathering.
Undercarriage has also been fitted, as well as the PE aerials.
Just the clear matt coat to go, and the cleaning up of the cockpit, and fitting of the open canopy.

My work here is done.
I'm very happy with the finished model. I had reservations about how easy, or difficult, those Swordfish decals were going to on. Have to say, they went on better than expected, just lots of patience.....and loads of Micro Set & Sol too.
