Right so after the successful finish on the Hellcat I was itching to do another plane.
(No having much motivation to do my other projects )

This time its the Luftwaffe turn.

But not something I know much about and the kit was an impulse buy because it looked cool.

So WTF is a Ta 152 I hear you cry well curtsey of Wikipedia.

The Focke-Wulf Ta 152 was a World War II German high-altitude fighter-interceptor designed by Kurt Tank and produced by Focke-Wulf. The Ta 152 was a development of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 aircraft. It was intended to be made in at least three versions—the Ta 152H Höhenjäger ("high-altitude fighter"), the Ta 152C designed for medium-altitude operations and ground-attack using a different engine and smaller wing, and the Ta 152E fighter-reconnaissance aircraft with the engine of the H model and the wing of the C model.
The first Ta 152H entered service with the Luftwaffe in January 1945. While total production—including prototypes and pre-production aircraft—has been incorrectly estimated in one source at approximately 220 units,[2] only some 43 production aircraft were ever delivered before the end of the European conflict.[1] These were too few to allow the Ta 152 to make a significant impact on the air war.

So now that's cleared up on with the kit!!

This kit also came with some photo-etch for harness and some other details.

An finally here is the colour sheet for the paint scheme and its going to be a challenge to pull off


Right so this one should be interesting build only second time using PE and that camo scheme is going to take some patience

That camo is going to kick your arse I think. The belly one isn't so bad. That top one is pretty much a work of art.
Challanging to say the least.
I don't know.. but I think that might just be as difficult as the tartan that I'm planning on my celt figure.
And I have nightmares.

I don't want to scare ya or anything... haha.

Seriously though, I've seen your work, I think that you can pull it off, and she'll be a show stealer when you're done with her.

Right so made a start and...



So the cockpit and the engine are done.

Left the harness out till I've painted this bit then add them after.
The engine cannot be see at all on the finished kit so don't need to paint this but was a pleasure to build anyway.



So far no problems to report with parts or fit. though the tub is alot less busy than the Hellcat.

Not sure if this is just on this plane or if all German fighters where like this. I'm sure someone can lett
me know

So work has progress on painting the tub

Again I haven't used the decals as painting it is much more fun and I think looks better.
Also started on the harness

Brushed on a little primer so the colour will take better.

Still need to gloss the dials.

So come on tell us your process / technique to achieve the detail.
is that white paint in the dials? or have you found a white fine pen like I did my solar car dash? What paint did you use? Colours? How did you dry brush?
How will you gloss the dials?

Cheers dude. as for my process

So after primer I base coated with a dark grey model air German grey in this case.
Then a light dry-brush was applied with Vallejo light grey.
I then did another dry-brush of metal concentrating on the dial rims and pedals (anywhere I thought would receive more wear and tear.)
Then the seat cushion was given a coat of Brown.
And finally a black was to shade the recesses and between the buttons etc.

For the dials easiest way I have found is use some watered down black as this will pull to the edges easier.
And the white is painted with a fine brush and thinned white paint. More of a suggestion of the dials rather than anything specific.

Gloss coat is Vallejo's as its more controllable to brush paint than Klear.

Ill make sure to do a through step by step with the next build.

So nothing complicated just a steady hand for the dials.

Right so finished with the cockpit tub added the harness and many expletives where uttered trying to bend them into place.
I think they look okay and something I need to work on in future.

Ooh forgot about the misc details and buttons.

For this they where dotted in using red and light grey.

Vallejo natural steel for the buckles.

And olive drab and camo brown for the harness.

Yeah not sure on it myself but as you say why not!!

Right so progress has been made on this one.

Fuselage went together without too many issues fit was nice.



Then I added the engine cover and nice and the tail parts.



and last pic the grand total of not a lot that can actually be seen of the cockpit.


At least I know its done lol. plenty of work to go before paint which give me time to figure out how Im going to do this one.

its always the way with the cockpit we put loads of work into it then it gets hidden away. at least we know its in there lol

If I was doing this paint scheme I think the way I would go on the top surfaces would be to put down the colour for the thin disruptive camo stripes first over the entire surface. Then I would put down very thin rolled blutack where I wanted the stripes to go and then put down the rest of the scheme as normal. Then just remove the blutack and voila! very thin camo stripes! You may want to try this out on some scrap first since its just an idea I have had, NOT actual experience!!!

Yeah that sounds like a good idea.

I'm going to do it free hand as I want the softer edge to it like the picture. (Have something coming in the post to help me with this )

But plenty of practice first lol.

Right so on with tonight's update.


So more parts added to fuselage a PE vane of some sort and a intake.also the back of the cockpit had a PE peice to fit which looks pretty good though need to give it a dry-brush and a wash to blend in with the rest.

Wing mounted machine guns some nice detail on these need to re-coat in black and nice metal dry-brush.

And the wheel bays. The two cross bar supports on each side are separate pieces and where a git to fit and glue.
Detail is pretty good if a bit basic.

So need to paint the guns and wheel bays before continuing once the paint arrives I have on order.

Yeah great detail on these kits I like the Hobby boss ones so much I've just ordered 2 more. lol

Right update time my recent deliveries have spurred my back into action!!!

Gave the back of the cockpit the same dry brush as the rest and some chipping to break it up and add interest.


Gave the wing guns a dry brush of metal though the only part that will be seen on these is the barrels.


And got the wheel bays done. Painted dry brushed then a black wash and added some chips.


And fitting the wing sections together lots of clamps for a good bond!! (Will be picking up more of these as you can never have too many!)


And that's all she wrote for tonight.. having issues with light tonight so sorry for the less than perfect shots.

Great stuff guppy, cockpit looks great, chipping works really well and the dry brushed guns look spot on too mate.

Right got some more done this morning.

Wings together.


Next masking the canopy. Was a bit awkward to mask so used liquid mask on and points the masking overlapped to stop and leaks.

This is becoming a really interesting build had I've never seen a torpedo bomber Ta152 built before. Great progress mate.

Until I bought this kit I'd never heard of a Ta 152 so no clue if its accurate of not but will look cool and that's all that matters to me

And base metal colour on some parts.

Preshading done.


Next will be underside paint later this evening.
Used the new air brush for the pre-shading still need some practice but getting used to it slowly.

Knowing as little as I do about that plane, she's a cool looking thing isn't she.

Update time.

Working on the underside and coming along nicely

Shading still a little stark in some places but this will tone down latter on and still the camo lines to go on.

Next will be masking the underside and doing first layers on the top.
Looking at the picture I think green first then brown?

Wow... I really wish that I had some Gupp.
I don't want to put you off, but that's some tricky camo. It's all soft edge except one spot along the side of the engine and under the elevator. All free hand and tight formations.
Even with an awesome airbrush you'd have to be careful. My best recommendation is plan it first, each section at a time, go slow, take breaks.
If you're going to brush paint it... well I'll just get down on my knees and start worshipping you as a god now.

That soft transition from top to bottom along the tail piece is going to be tricky .

Not too worried about the soft transition tbh think I should be able to manage it.

More worried about keeping the wiggly lines consistent might be a few days to get them all done.

Well be working on this tonight so will make sure to add lots of progress shots.
