Arrived with other supplies this morning. I can't remember ordering it, but I checked and had, and I can't remember what I ordered it for.

Hehe, maybe a screw up. I ordered a batch of Mr Color paint sets for Yamato 2199 and I got one too many. Seller didn't want me to ship it back to HK so I got it gratis.

I could be wrong but the clear silver is meant to topcoat a color and give it a shiny metallic look. Sorta like doing a candy color on a car. GX is like a super-hard curing line of Mr Color.

I've got an Eduard 1/48 Spit in my stash and it comes with a 2 piece upper engine cowling which is a real pain as its a flat to flat join and there's loads of rivet detail on it. Barracuda do a beautiful one-piece resin replacement and I've been telling myself to buy one on and off for months.

Before I went on-line to buy it I thought I should check just to see I hadn't already bought it and guess what I found when I opened the box......

On the one hand I'm glad I saved the money, on the other I'm worried about the mounting evidence of my falling IQ!

Scalemates is a very useful tool to keep track of all the kits and bits and pieces. It even catalogues them into useful groupings....what goes with what.
I use it all the time....I freaking need to...memory was never my strong point.

No, it's definitely down on the order I sent through.

I think you're right about the clear silver top coat part as I tried it on a bit of unpainted scrap and its low on silver colour, as in you wouldn't use it on its own as a paint type thing.

Are Mr Color lacquer or enamel?

I'll put it to good use anyway!
