Excellent!

Did we ever decide on fiction/non-fiction for Warring Weather? I'm cool either way, just curious.

I guess my only wish (not complaint!) is that the Holy Land build included Israel's adversaries in combat. Other than that 2017 looks to be pretty good for building!

I have an idea for the post apocalyptic build and I've already started gathering bits. It involves water, rats, dumpsters, and vending machines.
The winter build was giving me fits! What do I have that would be camo'ed for winter? Tanks? I have a few Leopards that could work. Planes? I was poking around and thought I could use my old Monogram Ju-87D - the Germans re-painted for winter. When I opened the box I saw that I had bought, and forgotten about, new decals - one of the markings is Russian Front in winter! Whew, solved!

Welp, grabbed the kits for the post-apoc SIG today. Perfect timing for it as I really have nothing to do most of Jan and Feb. Got some stuff I can chuck in for the Winter GB but not sure I'll have time later or alongside the other one. Aside from that I've got kits lying around for the FAA build (an early and a late variant of the Seafire) and Warring Weather (a Wirbelwind and a P-38).

Edit: Oh, and a Hurricane, naturally

Only got one idea at the moment for Winter is Coming, which is to open one of the two (Or possibly both depending on how fast I motivate myself to work) 1/35 scale Hobby Boss kits I have that contain some WW2 German heavy tanks.

I've never really joined a GB before. Do I have to wait until the day it starts to begin? Do I have to submit my subject before starting? I assume the message boards for each subject is not added until it starts.

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just eager to start!

Yes.

So the way it works is they open the sub-forum the day it starts (ish). You post a topic with your build and it's necessary to show pictures of your kit with the parts all still on the runners.

You don't need to submit a subject beforehand, some of us are just antsy and like to share a bit. Don't crack her open until the first day ;)

Getting well ahead of the game and just ordered my entry for the Feline Fever GB while I saw it at a reasonable price. Coming from China so who knows how long it'll take to arrive! I'm hoping to also enter the Warring Weather GB too, already got a kit earmarked for that one.

I bought the Revell Fine Moulds 1/48 X-wing for this SIG before I read the small print. Could have sworn you were running another Sci-Fi SIG :bash:

Let me in the SIG or I'll come round your house and stamp on all your toys!

Still, every cloud as they say.... I got me a beautiful X-wing on the way and I'm going to build it as Blue Leader from Rogue 1.

WOW!! Let's see if I can do the FAA All the Way, Warring Weather and Feline Fever. The first two over lap so I can try but I might not finish. Then it also depends on how much I can spend for the models. Hey!! I'm here for the fun. :D

:th:

The end of the earth-bound era coincides with the autumn and early winter - which makes a perfect time for building my Airfix 1:144 Saturn V/Apollo 11 rocket, especially since I assume I'll have less to do at work during that period! The 111 meter original will then stand an impressive 70 cm in my livingroom! :D

:cheers2:

And as a non-coincidence, I've actually been keeping my eyes on a 1:70 model rocket (1.6 METERS tall - ~62"!) version, which is FLYABLE to up to 150 m in height (or even more) by installing real rocket-engines!

https://www.apogeerockets.com/Rocket_Ki ... 70th_Scale

Unfortunately, that rocket itself is a $300 model, with at least an additional $60 + VAT + customs. The rocket engines themselves are subject to some very harsh import regulations, which would likely cost another $100 or even more, (plus the engine cost of less than $20). As an unwanted side-effect the rocket's total size, launching it would exceed the maximum allowed size for a model-rocket according to Swedish flight-regulation, even more so if all five rocket engines are installed. Because of that, the flying the rocked is considered flying in "advanced flight", which is regulated by the Swedish laws on public order, fire- and explosive equipment, air authorities regulations, and thus requires permit from the police, the air authorities and the applicable air traffic controller in order to launch. Possibly, an Private Plane License, Advanced Plane License and Advanced Flight License, totaling ~$30.000, is required as well.

Plenty of space in Sweden though to get away from prying eyes...
Regards, Dave.

Does anyone in Sweden get to play with rockets? Sounds crazy complicated just to go get some yuks with science and ballistics...

So are we doing the warring weather GB? I purchased a model in preparation for the GB. I don't see a thread started yet?

It'll open soon. Nothing to stop you from starting and taking your pics, post them when it opens :thumb2:

Cool calender, thx so much. I just joined and still a noob kinda, but I have many rockets (and a few just started) so the "Final frontier" looks wonderful for the end of the year. I hope I can finish one by then to at least have something to show or talk about. I see a person on this topic, that is going to try a Saturn 5! Good luck! Ive got a few Saturns as well, but I may just try to do a small space themed version to at least get my feet wet on this forum and building or showing online (which will be my 1st ever) will be something to think about. Maybe one of the earlier types like some kind of satellite rockets like the Explorer 1 or Jupiter C, not sure yet. Im an old guy so that era of space travel is in my blood! haha!

Does this have to be a static model or will a well detailed flying space craft work as well. Go many statics, so this should be no problem. Besides, the buzy end of the rockets look better when static as can be imagined (hehe)!
