Good to hear thanx for getting back to us on that. I got a bit of unexpected money for XMAS. So I'll be ordering one as soon as they come back in stock.

When Paul was on the live show just he mentioned that the new stock was likely to go very quickly and to go on to the site and pre-order one for a better chance of getting one but looking I can't see anywhere to do that, can you tell us how to go about that please!

every chance they may have sold the next shipment already and can't take any more orders.

Just a note to say that I love my Apex. I've had mine for around two weeks now and so far I've used it for priming, base coating and some fine detail work, and each time I have used the Apex, she has behaved flawlessly. Very easy to clean up, too.
If I am allowed one gripe, it's that I would have preferred the colour cup cover to be made of metal and not plastic. But I assume that was a cost issue. A very minor complaint though I assure you.

I spoke to Ken at Badger about the plastic cover for the colour cup on the Badger 105 Patriot, he said it is deinately not a cost issue. Rather the plastic cover holds to the airbrush better so is less prone to fall (that happened to me with my damn Neo), does not degrade etc

I don't know about the Apex so don't know if this applies but the Patriot also has a black rubber needle cover to protect it. This again has nothing to do with cost cutting but rather that the rubber forms a sealed air pocket which doesn't drive the cover onto the needle to cause damage as a metal on would if dropped.

We do have metal colour cup lids in stock to buy should you wish to "upgrade "

I remember Paul saying in one of the videos, that they chose the plastic cover also for another reason: Metal covers sometimes stick and are difficult to remove without spilling color.
Makes sense to me, in fact this is the reason why I never use covers

Plastic paint cup cap not a big deal for me...has no influence in performance
My Grex has a metal one and makes a heck of a noise when it clangs to the floor...I usually leave it off

I would prefer a silicone cap for my airbrushes. Metal ones are a pain if they get stuck.

Fair points made by all. Maybe I was a Magpie in a previous life - I like shiny stuff.

Are the APEX airbrushes currently available from Ultimate Retail factory seconds (i.e., have cosmetic flaws) - the attached pictures seem to indicate this is the case? I would like to purchase an APEX, but want one free of defects, cosmetic or otherwise.

Hi matt, no they are all new ones those pictures are left from the few damaged ones we sold off a while back and need removing form the site

It doesn't sorry no, you can pick them up from eBay and the like cheap though

Yep, super cheap on eBay..you can get a package or three or five for under a tenner. 1/8" is the standard diameter
I also would suggest an in line filter...catches any bits of water, especially when using 2K clears as catches any stray water contamination
Again not expensive and the set up looks like this



This one has a MAC valve as well attached just below the quick disconnect
Seems a bit awkward, but you get used to it very quickly

Okay, dumb question time... i finally got the Apex AB (albeit awhile back now) and none of my air hoses fit it.

Are the threads for the air connection metric?? What specifically are they? Thanks!

Was hunting for the answer. Send me a PM if this doesn’t help
There are 1/16” threads and 1/8” threads. The apex is the latter.
Your connector on airbrush and hose are likely 1/16, so need adapters to boost up to 1/8”
Similar adapter I did for my badger but I have a 1/8’ green line from my compressor




I would get quick disconnects, a Mac valve and an inline filter as well

Thanks Scott. I figured it was something along those lines. It screws on about a turn and a half and then starts to feel tight, like it's cross-threaded or something. LOL!!

I'll order an adapter, and in line moisture filter like I have on my Iwata. Thanks for the info!!
