Stuka S.I.G 1st January - 1st March

Post by Paul »

So January 1st 2017 I'm starting a Stuka S.I.G, this is an unofficial build just like my ongoing Sukhoi one, but ill run it and give it a section on the forum.

I'll be building Trumpeters 1/32 JU-87 G-2 with some aftermarket.

This was originally a buddy build between Chris DH and Ivan Jensen Taylor but it soon gained momentum with a lot of interested people showing interest.

So its any Stuka variant, any scale any manufacturer.

You can build it, out the box, with some scratch building or throw every bit of aftermarket at it you want, the choice is yours.

The only rules are

*It must be an unstarted kit
*We need pictures of the kit in an unstarted condition
*You should post regular build thread updates with pictures and written text on the forum.
*You can share it to Facebook and do You tube updates and these can be shared in your build thread too. But you ideally also need to do a forum build log too.

If you need any help with the forum just ask.

YAaaay really looking forward to this :) need to grab me some more aftermarket for mine, but eager to start. I have spent enough on mine already but a little more couldn't hurt :)

One of my 'new year resolutions' for 2017 will be to not get involved in more builds than I can reasonably handle. Since I've already decided to use my old Monogram Stuka in the winter build I get to participate in this build as well! Sort of...

Interesting. I'm in on this one, never built a Stuka. Just ordered the Hasegawa 87B on skis for something a little different and some photo etch.

Guess I should show off the kit I ended up with. I had planned to buy a cheaper 1/48 kit , but this came up via ebay and the guy offered to pay the postage as well. So it ended up costing around the same, until I bought some aftermarket extra's.

Image

I think of the 2 versions depicted in the markings guide I might go with the Ju 87A-2 version.....colors appeal to me.

LOL, ah, Digger! I know the specific kind of "modeller's economizing" you mean.

"It's a bargain!"..... "But... it's more expensive?"...... "Yes, but I've also SAVED money....erm."...... "And yet you still have less. Strange.".... "Leave me alone."

They would have been drag city looking at them. They only converted three 87B's to skids so it can't have been that successful. I can't find any images of them in flight at all but if they actually flew with the skids drooped like that then the nose up trim required would have been on the back stops I would imagine.

I'll be joining this one as well!

Picked up the Tamiya boxed Italeri 1/48 B-2 variant. Also placed an order for some Eduard masks and their interior/exterior photo etch set and quickboost exhausts! Can't wait to get it started!
