Missing Road Wheels, Dragon #6597 Panzer I Command Tank

Post by d6mst0 »

Just open this kit and did the inventory. Found that the kit only had eight road wheels, but the model requires ten road wheels. The inventory sheet shows that the kit only comes with eight wheels (sprue L), but step three and four shows the installation of 5 wheels on each side. The picture on the box shows 5 road wheels per side.
Has anyone on the forum built this kit? Am I missing something? I checked and rechecked and checked again each sprue and cannot find the other road wheels.
All the reviews on the web for this kiton ly shows eight wheels comes with the kit, but no reviewer has did a review of a build either on the web or you-tube. So have not been able finded out if this is common problem with this kit.
I opened a trouble ticket with Dragon, but I cannot believe they would not put the required number of road wheels when designing and packaging this kit.

Check the numbers on the instructions against the sprues to see the numbers of the ones you are missing. Then see if you have the actual sprue they're on, then whereabouts on the sprue. Are the actual parts attached to the sprue, empty spaces where they should be etc

Did that several times, thinking I must be missing something. The inventory clearly shows the sprue L was designed to have only eight wheels.

You should have 2 j sprues and 1 L sprue in your kit....as steel scooter says you are missing another L sprue and track.

I have looked at the instructions and sprues for that kit and those following it and I can see what you mean. The fifth road wheel pair seems to be non existant, not present on the sprues and not in the instructions. I have a preceding kit 6577 and that has loads of spare wheels. Your more than welcome to a couple of them. The rubber rim does seem to be a little thicker than on your kit though and would need to be reduced a fraction. Other than they would seem to be a match.
Strange it is not mentioned in any reviews that wheels are missing, are we missing or overlooking something !!

Ps... Obviously you have a kit that was issued early and hopefully they have fixed this problem with all the subsequent kits, but I could be wrong.
I would try to get the L sprue from dragon cause of the extra track needed and you will end up with a few spares.
:cheers2:

Thanks for the offer. I have a trouble ticket open with Dragon and they sent me a email saying they have forward my request to parts replacement. If they don't come through I will take you up on the offer

I do have 2 J sprues and 1 L sprue, J holds the idler and drive sprocket assemblies and L has the 8 road wheels. No other sprue has road wheels. This kit came out 2011 and no one has notice this until now? Think that makes me the first to build this kit? LOL

You should have 2 L sprues. The wheels come from the Pz Kpfw I Ausf A kit which only has four wheels per side. The subject of your kit is based on the Pz Kpfw I Ausf B which has an extra wheel per side so you should have two L sprues to make up the extra with spares left over. I do not have your exact kit but I have the Panzerjager I and that has two L sprues from the Ausf A Kit. Hope that helps.

:cheers2:

edit: I have had a root around on the web and found a couple of other mentions of the missing L sprue in this kit and also one claim that there are only enough track links for the four wheel Ausf A so you had better check that too! I love Dragon but they are known for various derps in the instructions etc but this is the worst example I have seen.
