T34 In Its Natural Habitat

Had this in the stash for a while and never done a winter camo so its turn has come. Straight out of the box, no extras. It's an old Tamiya kit so good to experiment with I reckon. I'm also doing The End is Nigh SiG which is where, I have to admit, my heart is.

At the moment I'm thinking of a small dio showing the tank in snow with some ruins. The markings and paint schemes have absolutely no detail except for dates and locations so I havent got a clue around historical accuracy. It's a 1943 production so will do some research on winter battles of 43/44/45.

Had a productive evening tonight. Completed the whole build in about 3 hours. It went together pretty easily, but its a kit that shows its age and there are gaps and fit issues. Nothing too hard to solve though. The only thing that really bugged me was the way the rubber caps over the axles stood so proud of the wheels. I've looked at some ref pictures and they do seem to stand out but not so much and without the obvious lip. I havent glued them so I suppose I could trim them down. There are also superfluous holes and other stuff from Tamiya's past obsession with making things remote control or motorised. All in all an enjoyable evening that gives me hope for actually finishing on time.

Gloss coat, decals and pin wash done. Not looking forward to slinging Ultimate Winter Wash all over it as I've never used it before, but, its a winter SiG after all!

Cheers man. Just glue thankfully. Big dressing is off now so I can hold stuff properly again. Fairly happy with the outcome of removing the winter wash. I re-painted the spare track as it was too metallic. Need to re-wash them and tone them down again.

With the deadline fast approaching I have done some work on the base.

I made the tree using the same materials and techniques as I mentioned in my 'End is Nigh' build thread. A layer of AK Terrains Dark Earth an then some snow from Treemendus secured with a 50/50 mix of water and PVA.
