Airfix 1/48 Sea Vixen

Hi all,
Here is my Sea Vixen, in 899 NAS colours. I added the Pavla cockpit set, and Aires wheel wells and air brake sets, plus an Eduard ladder. Dropped a clanger weathering the under side of the outer wings so tried to knock it back a bit by spraying some thinned white, which is why it looks a bit odd. I lost the navigator's side window so had to scratch a replacement, which I'm rather pleased with.

I made some FOD guards and ID lights for the nose gear door as well.

Its got my first ever attempt at post-shading on it too.

What a weird looking bird.
I've never seen anything like it. It's completely cool.
I love what you've done to her. She's a beaut!

My absolute favourite aircraft built and painted superbly by yourself. The folding wings and access ladder are fantastic. It's a joy to look at those photo's :D

Echo that lads... She's fantastic, I've got a bit of a thing for twin boomers. What was it like to put together Gareth? Airfix does blow hot and cold....:

Thanks for the comments chaps.

Fit was generally very good Joesdad. One or two niggles, but nothing major, and the booms go on solidly and positively.

I'm not a fan of how the side window is engineered, so it was a blessing in disguise when I lost mine and had to scratch a new one.

Dropped flaps will reduce a lot of work where the wrap around the booms, as fit there is poor in the raised configuration.

Cheers,
Gareth

The wing folds are out of the box Chief. I think they are pretty good as they are, some extra scratched stuff would make them look really good.

Cheers!

That is seriously good, the aftermarket stuff really brings it to life. Love the weathering on the underside of the folded wings.

I just noticed that I told you back in September that your build was fantastic. I must be sniffing too many tubes of epoxy these days I have no memory of posting before.

But, thats just shows you how good it is mate, you got two compliments from me !!
