I don't really build models this big, space, expense blar blar blar, but this my Dad favourite plane. He's been purging me for it lately so with that in mind I ought to get on with it.
I was going to shoot a review vid but we went to Brixham for fish and chips instead

Some nice detail, bearing in mind it's a 1998 Revell mold











The dry fit is very promising.

This is the inaugural build in the British Aviation In Scale Facebook group. It's a buddy build with Les Wells (wellzy47), but if anyone wants to join in pop over a say hello.

There's not much I could find mate. There's a Quickboost Martin Baker seat I was going to get, but it's not quite the right one and I'm not sure it would fit anyway. Pitot tube maybe...

Nice kit. But the panel lines need scribing to make them more pronounced. They look a little shallow.

You well may be right, I'll check that when priming and re-evaluate then. The Hunter has a smooth profile anyway, not much in the way big gaping panel lines....weathering may be a challenge.......

Good idea if you want a clean pin wash on the panel lines.

Tonight I've been playing with my new light....
But I still can't see small detail, never-the-less I've cracked on with the cockpit. Tamiya nato black used here not a blanket cote tho. Drybrushed with Model Color...er.... grey and white oil paint. Some red and yellows, khaki and light blue on the seat.
It's ok hopefully be better after a good wash....

They are not buffable, they're a lacquer so can be quite stinky. To be honest I've only used them for small works i.e. Engines, undercarriage legs etc, I haven't sprayed an NMF aircraft yet. They work well for me, I like them. Good colours and they look like metal. Alclad used to be the go to metallic but not anymore it seems...

Rubbing down the seam on the fuselage, no biggie but boring none the less

The wheels were already "weighted"



Now the good stuff.
Cockpit cleared in Aquagloss.



Same after a wash and dull cote. Testors..



The ip has little blobs of pva dabbing on the dials the simulate glass, when dry..

Even managed to get stuff primed





So far so good.

Up to now it's going good. I realise that the seat will probably let the side down and the canopy ain't the best but that's for a future moan...

A little more progress, although not as much as hoped as I couldn't be arsed

Lead strip in the nose cone and the back if instrument panel, hope I've enough in there



Let's have a look at the engine nozzle area..



Needs some clean up, that's what the kit is like..some bits fit well other require some work. As yet nothing fits badly

Topside joint, needs some wedging and taping and hoping..

Even at this relatively early stage I can't tell how fabulous the Hunter looks, my stupid photos don't do it's shape justice

Ok back to it...
This is the first time I've attempted to spray a metal cote
I'm using AK Extreme Metal Matte Aluminum to try a replicate High Speed silver..





I now see that you really do have to make sure that your surfaces are as perfect as you can get them.... mine aren't
Although this area is ok..



Next I couldn't wait to try out Mr Hobby Mr Color, I've used them before but only for cockpits. A really lovely paint..

NFM looks great. Good progress

Interesting texture on the wheel wells. Took me to takes, to realise that you stuffed the gaps with a piece of sponge. Lol! I really like that shiny finish on the undercarriage. Also a great idea to mark the properties before painting the shapes. Easier way of keeping tabs on the colours

Love the Hunter and the revel kit is pretty good I have a couple of them 1 nearly done and one to make a better job of than the 1st one
Great finish on the under sides with the metal finish, look forward to seeing more.

I think it's better if you use undercarriage doors for masking, but I couldn't here due to the actuators. Painting by numbers Bissy

Well.... Mr Hobby Mr Color thinned with Mr Hobby thinner is great stuff. It really holds itself together to give really thin lines full of colour..





Then a blow over with a more heavily thinned cote(s), to try and blend it in..

Mr Color 330 Dark Green went down while watching the Friday ISM Live Show. You can see there's a couple of touch ups to sort, but relatively pleased...

Oh yeah, I've masked the camo using Tammy bendy tape (I'm not convinced)..

Looking just GREAT Tim. There is a knack to using Tamiya's bendy tape, hard to put in words but you kind of have to stretch it.

Thank you Cymru, yeah but I just don't like, it's not sticky enough for me. It's easier to use on 1:32 than 1:72 though! What I should've done was get some of the wide Tammy tape and used that. Must get some...

unlucky for the paint peel, on the other hand the paint job is amazing, the build is looking great
