Hi Guys,

New member here, so thought I'd say hello.

I'm a British ex-pat Engineer, having worked throughout most countries in Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Equatorial Africa,and Asia-Pacific regions, plus a year spent in Kazakhstan Central Asia and shorter trips to India and Siberia.
Have resided in China more or less since I was initially assigned here in 1996 -- mainly cos I'm married to a Chinese Lady whom I met back in 2001 when I was assigned to a job at the local shipyard in her hometown.

My main hobby interest is building small dioramas. Up until now these have been completed using pre-painted metal figures and/or white metal kit figures assembled and painted by myself. These have mainly been in the usual white metal/resin 54mm/60mm size although I've also done some vignettes using 75mm examples, and have one small diorama with 90mm figures -- which is possibly the "Jewel in the Crown" of my collection -- although this title tends to change from vignette to vignette as the mood takes me. I'll post some examples once I reorganize my Photobucket account which is a real mess right now.

However, my interest in 1/35 scale modelling, latent since my teens, has been reignited over the past several months and I'm almost at the point where my first 1/35 scale diorama is ready to be posted, (possibly over the next few days).

I chose my username and avatar for this forum due to my long-time amusement at the antics of George MacDonald Fraser's Flashman character. A born survivor if ever there was one.
Other main interest includes late-1960's/early-1970's Rock/R&B/Soul, although I've been known to dip my toes into more modern stuff, err, from the 1980's....and even 1990's.

My favourite novels. They are like the Forth Bridge with me, I read all 12 and then start again with the first one. Never tire of them, the only books that make me laugh out loud.
