I have a World War 1 obsession and this is the perfect model for just such a build:

I will just sit here in the corner and watch

More progress - the pieces fit together no problem, and the instructions are clear.

I am not a big tank guy, but like the WWI stuff too.
One day I will start one of the umpteen planes I have in the stash

I was hoping to see one of those Wingnut kits you have up here someday.

As for tanks - they are the most forgiving of all models - break something, missing a part, screw up the paint job, any disaster only makes the tank look more realistic in my book.

Great start on a very nice kit! I've been tempted to try some WWII vehicles, and this one is on top of my list!

Okay, so I start off with this piece:



Then I built it up to this. The fun part is - in THEORY - I should be able to take that other piece and just fit all those wheel (which are not glued in place) into those 27 holes - as though it's going to fit like a glove no problem right? Of course not...



Oh look - I did it! So I started on one end and fitted a couple of wheels through their respective holes, pinched it, and just moved down the part - only took about three minutes when doing this. Then I used the extra thin glue (should have worn a gloves) which ran onto the sides where my fingers were, and now I'll have to sand off a finger print, but not a big deal.

All them wheels looking good so far looking forward to the reveal

Hands down the best tracks I've ever worked with. Simple to assemble - holes on one side and pins on the other - snap in no problem, they don't break apart.

and the fit is PERFECT!

Looks like a fun build,looking forward to completion.

Looking good, just at the painting stage on mine, I found the gun assemblies were a bit tricky

Finished the second side of wheels - whew glad that is done.

I put everything together so I can get an idea on what its going to look like - although nothing is glued together at this point.

Shaping up nicely mate. Starting to look like a tank.

If any of you actually build one of these type of Takom models you may run across this page in the instruction book:



In real life this is what they look like - see the two nibs? The Machine gun is going to fit onto those so they can move up/down. But look how small the glue area is - so everytime you go to fit those guns onto those pins the stupid seam breaks apart - three hands might help!



After breaking this seam twenty million times I decided to move to the next step - you see that part "X-9" ?



That's the solution to this bitch - glue that piece in place first, fit your guns, and then glue the superstructure around the gun.



Yes yes I know I sacrificed my well being so you wouldn't have a headache or a pain in the ass in the future - the least I could do...

The parts are looking cool once I figured that issue out:



These sides fit wonderfully - even have these "guides" that are awesome!

That's coming together nicely - even with the hiccup on the guns.

Looks like a really good kit.

It took me awhile to build this, not because it was super complex, I just simply had a hard time devoting more than 6 or 7 hours a week to the build. Really nice fit on all parts, no filler thus far.

Here is a lay out of the parts - what I really like about this build is you build all these sub-sections and then you just assemble them in the end - in theory... This, however, will making painting the triple camouflage pattern much easier!

I started out by rusting the tracks - but I hate the looks so that will be redone!


okay I decided rather than painting these annoying green patterns, I'll just start by painting the entire beast green and will mask off the green pattern and apply color #2. I should note here, I did paint around the edges of the tank in a dark iron so I can do some very minor chipping later. Also, I repainted those tracks in Dark Iron, and the green is Tamaya Field Grey 50% and Flat Green 50% making what I am calling "forest green" right?

Finally I mark off the first camouflage pattern:



Next color is a wood tan color...

Hands down, the best triple Camouflage hard line pattern I've ever done. I like the paint job so much, I almost called it done so I could just look at it, think about it... That lasted about ten minutes:

Pained green then taped off the pattern:



Once I had the green pattern taped off I applied the wood color:


I then masked off the wood color for the white/concrete color (a 50/50 of Sky Gray and flat white):


And the results!

That's really a nice kit way more too it than I'd have thought. I'm very tempted to add one to my stash now.

Great build, love camo paint work, keep up the very good work

Did some more work on the Mark 1 - weathering with Oils, added some chipping, and then applied a filter over the model to unify the colors - let that sit for a day or so...









Guess I will apply a dull coat - maybe - and then apply pigments. Good news is there are no decals for this tank.

Here's the basic diorama build, real simple build - going to have this beast crawling across no mans land in the late fall 1916 - so I doubt Ill add much snow to the diorama - not sure World War One tanks attacked in the winter anyway - seems like all forces just waited until spring...

My Go to material - pr-mix tile grout...


black paint for dark shadow areas:

Ran out of time - so Ill have to continue this later.
