New Site Graphics?

Post by Stokesy44 »

Hi Guys

Have you done some sort of appearance update to the site? :o

I was wondering why my WIP pics were not appearing full width and why there was a drag left/right bar at the end of the post now in order to see the pics.

Seems like a step backwards to me. I thought it might be my end but I don't think so now.

Cheers, David

:cheers2:

Its not the general appearance of the site that's the problem, I like the way it looks too. The problem is when I make a WIP post now the pics don't show properly. You have to scroll across using a left/right scroll bar to view the whole picture (it doesn't fit on the page) but the bar is only at the bottom of the post so if you make a long post with text followed by pics followed by more text and pics etc., the viewer goes through the whole post, unable to view the pics properly. Only at the end of the post can you find the scroll bar and go back up to view the pics. Even then, the viewer isn't seeing the picture as it was intended when taken by the author.

Its a small thing but it does impact on the pleasure of going through a post and having a good gawp at people's work.

The boss man is working on it so hopefully its only temporary :th:

Im guessing your using a tablet or phone, if so your pictures are too large, upload them in a slight smaller resolution, 800x400 for forums usually , i don't have to do any scrolling on my MacBook

Stokesy, I took a look at your recent posts. First, great work! :th: I didn't see any problem; that is I wasn't getting scrollbars and could see the entire photos. Then, on a whim, I thought I'd try Internet Explorer (I use Chrome as my browser); sure enough, scrollbars.: Well, I have two suggestions: 1 - follow Paul's advice and make your photos a little smaller, 800 pixels wide seems like a good recommendation; 2 - use Chrome! :D

Maybe the site maintainers can look into the issue with Internet Explorer (all though having dabbled in cross-browser support I know what a pain it is).

Good Luck!

Thanks Paul. I use my iphone for forum pics. Any ideas on how I can shrink them? I cant find anything in the phone to reduce the resolution.

Maybe there's something on photobucket but I cant see at the moment because the site wont let me in

Thanks Bob. I'll try the smaller pics route - if I knew how to shrink iphone pics!

Couldn't find the option on the App on my phone. All is not lost however. I can use 'Paint' on my laptop which does it perfectly. :th:

For me the logo is still cut off no matter the browser I use. I clean cookies etc. pretty regularly so I dunno.

No biggie.

This is now fixed, but if it's still showing as cropped, you will need to use this link.....

Don't forget to delete the old link from your favourites and add this new link as this is now as secure site (uses the https instead of http) :th:
