Last week I sought advice, over the phone, from the friendly guy at Air-Craft.net. I was on the phone for 13 minutes. Yesterday got my phone bill and was shocked to discover that my 13 min call had cost me over £8 :eeek: I had not noticed that the number is a premium rate 0845.
So, just a heads-up, keep your call short

Unfortunately this number isn't on there, but always a useful website to check. It shows the geographical equivalent on premium phone numbers

I've edited the title as I don't think a "caution" is needed, in the nicest way I don't think your phone bill is martins fault :cheers2:

Cymru,

Thank you for your recent call, I hope that it was at least of some use to you.

Just to clarify, 0845 numbers are not "Premium Rate" & are classified as "Business Rate" by Ofcom. What is charged for calls to 0845 numbers is a combination of the "service charge" (what you are charged by us / our provider) & the "access charge" (what you are charged by your own phone provider).

It's out of hours now so I'm unable to absolutely confirm the "service charge" at the moment, but this can cost up to a maximum of 7p/min (91p maximum for 13min), so I can only assume that you phone company are charging in the region of 54p per minute as the access charge. Access charges vary from carrier to carrier with the combination of some service + access charges making for cheaper calls than to regular 01 numbers.

My apologies for the seemingly exorbitant call charge, but I can assure you that we have in now way profited from this or any other call that we take on our advertised phone number. There was a day when an 0845 number or similar was a necessity to our operation, this is no longer the case but with the number being widely published we have been reluctant to change it to a regular geographic number - following your comments we may reconsider this.

Martin,

Air Tech Equipment Ltd.

Hi Martin, glad you could chip in here to clarify matters. 0845 may not be a premium rate number but it did place a premium burden on my wallet :D
I walked in from work to find my SO demanding to know who I had been calling, she thought I'd been calling some perv line :eeek:

Your advice was indeed of use and I'm very impressed with my purchase, thank you :thumb2: I will of course continue to shop with you but, sadly, no more phone calls :(

Cymru,

Up there with Babestation then....... :eeek:

We have since updated the number published on our site to our regular national / geographical one, so should you feel the need to call in the future you shouldn't be charged in the same manner (some mobile carriers charge up to 55p/Min for regular national numbers though). I'm afraid that we don't typically answer calls in suspenders, but we can talk airbrush.

Next time you're on the market for something, give us a shout & we'll do something to offset the previously incurred charges (email quicker, free & you are more likely to get a response / quicker response).

Martin.

Absolutely :th: I've brought pretty much all my airbrush set up save the booth from Martin. He's been brilliant in his advice and very quick sometimes instant with email responses.

His delivery times are super quick, I've had things the next day when ordered before lunch. I wouldn't really consider buying airbrush supplies from anyone else, even if it was cheaper which it's mostly not.

lol, babestation! Errr something like that  I think the change from the 0845 number is a smart move IMHO, even though, in my case, Vodafone are the profiteers here
However you choose to dress to answer the phone is your business, who am I to judge
Call me old school but email, txt ect are just SOOOO impersonal and leave huge room for error and I can listen to your dulcet Scottish tones all day :D
Thank so much for your kind offer, customer service above and beyond the call :thumb2: :thumb2: :thumb2: I do have a long planned purchase in the pipline. I'll be in touch after payday (12 Mar).
THANK YOU Martin

I've recently bought several items from Martin, some expensive, some cheap, and every order was treated the same, lightening fast Despatch and delivery and he's never failed to answer any of my stupid questions and even once recommended another companies product when he didn't have what I wanted.
Top company, top bloke and highly recommended :th:
