We have been bantering about on Lysus' thread about my modelling faux pas last night.
So, what is your story of something disasterous happening while modelling???


I am gonna start with the recap of my tipsy stupidity entitled:

Scott's Lesson of the Night

When painting Tamiya white in your new house with dark maple flooring...please note the following.
Do NOT allow the paint dropper to fall off your bench and roll around on said floor splurging white Tamiya like a vomiting teenager.
Furthermore DO NOT grab this dropper by the bulb on retrieval and spray more white around.
It might also be prudent to avoid stepping in the paint with your slippers and then tracking it down the stairs to the mud room where you were trying to find the cleaning agents...leaving white blips all along the way

Now if you ARE stupid enough to do all this, thank god and donate to charity sometime if you did all this when your wife was out and you managed to clean up the evidence in time

Also if you have had a couple drinks, stick to E Bay surfing
Now back to your regular scheduled Lysus

Never keep a opened bottle of tet too close to where you are working...cause it will get knocked over and spill under all of the assembled kit melting it and your new cutting mat instantly....while one sits there thinking. WTF do I do now and quick !

Just ripped it right off the bolts. Been on there 25yrs...it's one of those events we all here more of...a one in a 25yr event, perhaps it's easier to explain ( or blame when things happen) the changes in climate.

I may need tdon't get this tattooed on my forehead...there is plenty room there

Done this one loads of times; holding the kit because you cant get a bit of wire in a suitable orifice and then concentrating on getting a good camo line or whatever you realise you are now holding the kit on the bit you have just sprayed. Every time I go to the spray booth I tell myself not to do it, and more often than not I do.

I've done the TET on the mat as well and the paint on the floor.

On a non modelling front I bought a new car last November. My old car was an auto and the new one is a manual. The morning after I got it it was parked in the drive, I climbed in, started it up (you have to put your foot on the clutch to start it), let the clutch out quickly because i thought it was in neutral and reversed into the garage door. I also managed to scrape the front nearside alloy on the same day.

On a recent 1/76 panzer IV build I'd been keeping all the tiny wheels in the box tray to avoid dropping them or having them wander off by themselves (I'm sure pieces do that). Turned around at the bench and promptly caught the box with a stray elbow launching the wheels high into the air and eventually scattering across all corners of the carpet... anyway after a long and careful search they were eventually all accounted for (Tomcat 1 - Carpet monster 0).

Oh and sneezing near an open canister of scenic snow is also unadvisable...

I have done the surprise reverse thing too. Lately taken to curbing my rims backing up to park the car...done it three times this month. It doesn't look good on black rims to have metal scars on them!!!

Put the raised area in the cinema room last week. Ran power outlets to the riser so the front row recliners,(If we ever get them)
can be powered. Them secured the floor boards with glue and screws before pulling the wires through the holes..... Bugger....
An hour or so of colourful language and a couple of coat hangers. Then I needed a beer..... Bad.
Building a new house Twokids I understand. Still cant believe your allowed to model inside, I've seen the look in her eye and I think she is going to kick me out of the garage and into a tent

Another top tip ....whilst holding your hobby knife in your hand whilst reading the instructions..... DON'T scratch, your nose !!!! and don't drop your knife when you've done it as it may land on your foot.....

Managed to super glue my thumb to the instructions....I'll never lose them again !

I'm still amazed I haven't poked a hole in my eye yet ...

Spraying camo on a tank and I pull out the infinity. Now I don't use this much and was feeling a little stiff. Fill with paint, do a test spray and backflows all over the shop!! Gunze everywhere

Moral of story check seals and tighten nozzle before adding paint

Yours tops mine...Never clean electric paint stirrer any where near your build.......Lovely little spots everywhere. Even after I had cleaned them up I was still finding spots of paint in odd nooks and crannies.

A couple weeks ago I had a mild case of death. The Mrs. took the kids out of the house for a while and since I'd had so little time at the bench these last couple months I thought I'd try.

Right off the bat I mixed some lacquer paint with IPA thinner and gummed my airbrush. Spent my free hour cleaning it instead, then went back to bed.

Gotta love the Coyote and Roadrunner clips...love the look on his face
Yep, sometimes best to shut it down and call it a session, try again later

Not clumsy, more prone to get my nose in there and get the job done as well as able to laugh at myself when S happens
I go in the corners and front of the net while others sit on the bench

I knocked over my CA with the lid off the other night and in an instant grabbed the kitchen roll and wiped it up. It stuck to my fingers and smoke started coming off it, it got HOT and the smoke really burned the nose and eyes. Bit of a dumb move tbh! Lucky I didn't burn my fingers and poison myself but the instant reaction was to quickly clean it up

Yikes... I mean... for real. Glad you didn't rub the smoke out of your eyes....

Very carefully built a PE pit for my F4 build this afternoon. 4 hours work, bending, adjusting etc. You know the score. I then knocked over my bench vice with my elbow onto the pit. 2 hours later it was something like it was 2 hours before, if not a little bent...

I would have cut my own throat avgas, the pain of it !!
