Please help: with COLOR SCHEME for a BF109E-4 (Adolf Galland)

Post by escrincador »

Hi fellows!!!!

I´m bouilding a Trumpeter 1:32 Bf109E-4, the famous Adolf Galland version and instructions point that wings are a RLM74 & RLM75 color scheme.

Well, I´ve seen those colors in Gunze and are two dark greens pretty similar, while in Vallejo Model Air those colors are two very dark greys, very hard to distinguish any difference between them.

But when I find any images about that model I find three diferent schemes:

1- Two greys (middle and light grey):

2- Two greens:

3- Light grey and dark green:

Could anyone please help me? What is the correct scheme?

I´m planning to use Vallejo Model Air, could you please tell me the scheme in this brand?

Many thanks to all!!!!

The first two of those models are painted in the early colors, which a E-4 should be. The last one might be done in 74/75, but I don't think that is correct but I could be wrong. The early colors are RLM 65/71.008 for the bottom and the sides, RLM 02/71.044 for the lighter grey/green, RLM 71/71.015 for the darker green, RLM 4/71.002 for the yellow and RLM 70/71.021 for the prop blades and the plate behind the spinner. This is the colors that Tamiya, Airfix and Eduard says the E-4 should be painted in. RLM 74 and 75 are late war colors and is a dark grey/green and dark grey. Hope this helps.

They were finding it hard to tell wether a hurricane or a 109 at distance so made the yellow flashes to stop blue on blue.
