As I wait for paint and stuff to dry on my Tiger I project I picked up this little kit for next to nothing. It looks to be rather old tooling; but, who cares! The box had some very nice looking art that came with the kit to show paint schemes? I think I may frame it and put it on the wall of my hobby space!

Painted the bits in Vallejo Air Green Zinc Chromate. It looked to approximate the Mitsubishi Cockpit color okay. Again; this is a fun build! No rivet counting or color matching here!

Well, the dash didn't have any details to speak of so I resorted to actually using the supplied decal. Also included a few views of the cockpit. Went together rather well. No big issues with this kit!

I'm in the process of masking the canopy. It's coming along; but, I now remember why I just about always default to buying canopy masks now.

Nice start! I did this a couple few months ago as my first step back into the hobby, you can't beat the price! My biggest issue was sacrificing parts to the carpet monster!!

Thanks Bob! I'm thoroughly enjoying this build. It's a nice breath of fresh air after fighting kits the last few months (I finally started looking up reviews and buying nicer kits.) I finally bought a pair of Tamiya side cutters and it has significantly decreased my carpet monster incidents.

I got the canopy masked. Not as terrible as I thought it would have been. Got the whole thing together, next will come some sanding and a little bit of filling. For being such and old kit, it's working out pretty well!

Dare I say, I do feel like I'm getting better at this hobby. Or rather, I'm more efficient at tasks which used to take me a very long time to finish.

Ultimate Black primer! Used a spongy makeup sponge thing to plug the gap in the top of the canopy.

Then I mixed up a bit of Tamiya flat Yellow and flat Red to get the orange/yellow identification stripes. My camera was having weird issues with the lighting. So, the yellow is actually more saturated than it looks.

Masking! Elected to leave the cowl in Ultimate primer black; we'll see how it is. Taped off the ID stripes and taped off the cowl. Used some Micro sol/set masking fluid. We'll see how it works.

I get the bottom sprayed. I used some XF-76 Gray Green IJN to do the swirly highlighting thing, then covered it all with XF-80 Royal Light Gray. This gave me a very slight tint of the Gray Green but an overall gray appearance. Exactly what I was going for. Sadly the camera was bad at capturing it quite right.

Got the top painted. Used the XF-70 Dark Green 2 for it. Seemed the better option when I was comparing it with the first version. The exhaust ports were painted with MM Rust, ended up looking like what I wanted. XF-red for the landing gear indicators too. XF-Nato Brown for the antenna. It's starting to come together. Position lights were painted with XF-red and XF-Blue. The masking was a bit eh, I may paint over it and hope. Also had to touch up the cowl because of over spray on the front.

Sorry for the slow down. Work/life gets in the way of hobbies much more often than I'd like to admit. Anywho, I'm going to get the decals on this today. We'll see how these Tamiya ones hold up.

They went on okay so far. Small tear on the back side. Should be okay.

There is a model competition at the local Hobbytown USA here on Saturday. I want this to be done in time. I'm also going to enter my Tiger I for Winter is Coming and maybe my Spitfire from earlier. I've never entered anything like this before so it sounds like fun. Even if I get dead last; which is what I'm expecting.

These decals are of the way to think variety that Tamiya puts out every so often. Lots of Microsol/set for this guy.

Decals finally mostly dried. Going to give them a few more hours before going over it with Aquagloss. I'm off tomorrow from work so should be able to get weathering done.

Used about a gallon of Microsol/Microset to get the decals to lay down. Ended up looking pretty good.

Finished up with this guy. Went together easily and didn't give me too many issues. Top coat was done in MM Semi-Gloss Lacquer. Soot was done with Black Carbon Vallejo Pigments.
