Strainers for culling diorama dirt, etc

Post by jmatt »

I need to pick up a set of strainers so I can separate out big, medium, small and fine levels of dirt, etc for building a diorama. Is there an actual set produced for the hobby? Or does everyone put together a patchwork of spatter guards on down through tea strainers?

And has anyone ever used a Chinois style device?

Would look in a dollar store for tea strainers or maybe flour sifters....there should be various sizes and shapes
Haven't seen a Chinois one before

Mesh is the essence of strainers. So if you can get some insect screen as obvious cheapy and other size mesh can be bought . Then all you need to do is make up a small frame or old 6x4 photo frames and add the mesh to it and you have exactly what you need.
