I shall be building the Eduard 1/48 Hellcat Mk.I. Paul did a superb job on his build a year or so back, so hopefully I can do as good of a job, doubtful tho

I love the Hellcat, but to me the FAA Hellcat just looks amazing and really suits the markings and camouflage. This kit comes with a nice amount of PE, and some really nice resin wheels, and even better, there are 2 kits in the box

I watched a video of Plasmo paint it entirely in oils...absolutely gorgeous colours. I think it is the same plane

Progress is progress, I got the cockpit assembled, painted and put the PE on before I even thought of taking pictures. Here is a pic of the cockpit in the Fuselage.





Got the wings together, fuselage together, cowling and engine together. Ready for painting and all putting together

thanks guys for all the nice comments I shall be showing more progress soon, just been away from the bench for a week or two. itching to get back at it

So I have got the hellcat all primed using the Ultimate black primer. The underside has been painted with Mr Hobby aqueous "sky" and then faded and mottled.

Then the upper surface has been painted in Mr Hobby aqueous "olive drab" then masked. Once masked I then painted FS36118 "Grey". After removing the masking I noticed there are one or two areas requiring a touch up but luckily these will be covered with the invasion stripes which I am not looking forward to doing

Thanks Ivan! Looking good. I've just started my first Hurricane which will be my first attempt at a camo pattern; been a little stressed about how I'm going to do it. This helps immensely!! Just curious if there is a reason that you did olive drab first and grey second. And did you freehand the olive drab outline?

Being honest there was not reason what so ever for me doing olive drab first lol, just happened to be the bottle I picked up first, I begin by roughly free handing the olive drab then masking the camo pattern for the grey it look a lot of time to mask but was worth it in the end

Been a day of great progress, got the invasion stripes done, paint effects done, glossed and 80 percent of the decals in the bird. Loving this kit

A bad accident today having had ripped of a decal with masking tape. BUT luckily I had a spare from the decal stash more weathering done, getting really close to finishing this got the top dullcote down also

Thank you very much mate well for the invasion stripes it was surprisingly easy the 10mm tamiya masking tape is the perfect width for 1/48 single engine ww2 fighter invasion stripes. and the 6mm for 72nd. made life so easy when doing them, and of course with a little help of Paul

K so paint white background first and then mask it off and then black areas...sorry, missed all the insider info

Yep, You describe it perfectly
Was it black you used or great shades???

I used tire black from mr hobby aqueous and faded with a few drops of white

Ah ha, that must be the secret as the black looks great like that
