Hey, wait a sec

Perhaps you should buy that kit just for review purposes...you know, good for the masses kind of thing
That way it doesn't count as a new kit...really kind of ;)

Haven't bought a kit so far this year. I've had one bought as a birthday pressie, unsolicited by me, but that doesn't count. Tools, paints etc are of course exempt from the buying embargo. Funny thing is I have four kits on the go at the moment and one finished and the stash looks exactly the same as it did before Crimbo.

No. The rules are (that I have just made up) that you can't spend any money on a kit. If you have been given one that's fair enough, but no giving money to someone and hoping they accidentaly buy a kit for you. Spending on equipment and consumables (a kit doesn't count as a consumable) is OK too but no buying bits of plastic that make a kit. Or resin. Or anything else that could possibly make up a kit. The panel of Overlords will be the final arbiters of what is and what isn't a kit.

I bought my last kit on 9 Dec 2016. 127 days ago. Anyone beat that?

Ummm... no... I'm a pair of egg-planes (because I optimistically thought I'd have time for this year's build) and an X-Wing (Stokesy made me do it) down so far this year.

I liked Diggers rules better :(

I would come close... I bought my egg plane late last year, but I can not remember the date nor can I when I uploaded the original picture in the "what goodies did the mailman deliver" thread

If someone was to buy a junkyard kit that would otherwise have been melted down....remember the toy story scene and the blast furnace. Ya it was just like that. I rescued it from the bowels of Las Vegas..if there is such a location
So I didn't as much buy a kit as adopt a rescue kit in need of a forever home :shifty:

GD it I bought a Cobra 1/24 glue bomb incomplete semi built model
There I said it

We are all helpless in the face of the spell cast upon us by those glossy cardboard boxes and their magical mysterious contents. Here's a story poem of an inveterate stash builder who, when faced with the global hunger crisis, resolved to change his ways.

An Ode to the stash - I will not buy new models for a year

If my change of heart can save a life
I'll put myself through all hell's strife
I will not buy new models for a year

I could send my wedge to The World Bank
And not buy that Dragon Tiger tank
I will not buy new models for a year

The internet's been my downfall
I call it the devil's shopping mall
I danced on the keyboard and threw my cash away

I've got enough kits under my bed
To maintain my hobby beyond when I'm dead
I will not buy new models for a year

Well the folks in need have all been waiting
For me to stop my accumulating
And spend my stash dollars on international aid

So if a pizza helps the hungry's plight
I'll quit buying kits from Hannants' site
I will not buy new models, well maybe for a couple of months
I will not buy new models for a year……

Yeah right… click Enter… wait for postman.

(nicked from an original song by Bill Bailey, the title of which is too rude to mention here!)
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

I went to the model store today... and I managed to get out without buy a single thing

I went in looking for 3 or 4 kits, but sadly couldn't find them
Not sure if that makes it a victory or defeat :

Both - definitely claim both!

Moral victory in the "no more kits" battle, but stash expansion defeat - which in itself maybe a partial victory as it leaves space available for impulse buying... not that I'm advocating impulse buying of course as that breaks Rule 1

Walked past my local model shop with my wife and I said to her it's ok darling I don't need anymore kits to which she agreed. I had a slight twitch but all was well.

Then I ordered an ultimate apex online when I got back... that's sort of a win right :thumb2:

Bit machiavellian ( that's my word for the month :) ) though, first racking up a brownie point with the missus and then buying what you want and having it delivered.... I shall have to remember that one. Should work at least once or until the credit card statement rolls in ;) :D

This weekend was a kit free transaction weekend, I was not tempted once. Well I was but only briefly ...I was strong ! Not one buy from the net, dispite watching 8 facebook pages, gumtree and a Aussie modeler site which is very popular for buying and selling.
It's one day at a time.....It is now 8 days since my last binge. I'm feeling all weak

Actually I realy like the scamel kits that will be coming out soon. There was a pic of one named blue moon for sale on ebay. I cannot find it anymore, but would like to replicate that vehicle. It was so dune buggy style....really cool !

Jut got back from Breedon with Bronco Models' airborne jeep, trailer and towed howitzer kit and a Mitch's Models 200mm Resin RAF pilot.

Spectacular failure on my part - how I love losing!!

So what's the opinion on gift card money? If it counts against the new kit ban, then I've failed spectacularly.

Well gift cards are purchased with someone else's money, not yours....
So technically you didn't purchase it... :thumb2:
