Hi,
I have decided to attempt to sell all 50 of my humbrol enamel paints as they are pretty aweful; about one in ten that I buy are of very poor quality and I usually end up binning them.

Therefore I decided it is best to switch to Tamiya acrylic as I have heard a lot of positive things about them, I dont mind mixing the paints, actually I kind of enjoy it and Tamiya have to be the cheapest acrylics that are up there with other more expensive ones.
From eModels, it looks like it is going to cost £158 without delivery on top of this. I think this is the best way to go as it will mean that I will not have to buy paints for a very long time but am not sure if I can justify spending this amount of money and not using all the paints.

Would you guys recommend buying them all in one or going down the route of buying a few at a time?

Buy them as you need them I would say. That's how I've built up my paint collection. I've just counted my paints and have 71 pots of Tamiya, plus 89 pots of other brands. I suppose I've amassed those over three years or so.

I agree with Avgas. Buy as you need, because most of the Tamiya acrylics are useful for only one type of modeler. I.e., XF-60 Dark Yellow intended for builders of WWII German armor would not be of much use to a modeler of modern aircraft

I third that. As with my Mr Color I've been doing more mixing when needed, but also I'd say 2/3 of the line are colors meant for one thing. Were it me I'd figure out a dozen or so that I know I'd use, get multiple whites and blacks if you mix a little.

I've got more than a few pots that I bought, used once for about a mil of paint, and now they sit.

With the one proviso if your a long way from a model shop there is nothing more frustrating to have to wait for a package of paints to arrive.
The guys are right though a few of the paints don't get a lot of use.
Also in picking Tamya ( not a true acrylic ) They do have a long shelf life ! Which I find is a big plus.

And think of all the cash you would free up for kits!!!!

So they're really awful so you decided to ship them on to some other poor sucker. Haha, I hope you don't decide to sell them on the buy/sell section here!

I must be an oddball, but I don't mind Humbrol enamel paints, if properly thinned I find they airbrush beautifully but I don't buy them much nowadays and prefer more modern alternatives like MRP.

Very useful. Handy to have all the mixes done for me
