5th NY Zouave

Here's a 70mm figure I completed of a 5th New York 'Fire' Zouave (by the now defunct Darkworld Creations). This unit wore uniforms patterned after the French who popularized the style of Algerian military dress in the 19th century. Each side in the ACW had their own zouave units. The 5th NY has the sad distinction of suffering some of the highest casualty rates yet were also one of the bravest - while other units fled, they would stand their ground despite the odds against them.

Finished this with a mix of acrylics and pastels. Sling and bayonet is brass and lead foil Pardon the lighting.
