1/35 Tamiya Elefant with a few goodies

Post by Stokesy44 »

Tamiya's superb 1/35 Elefant with an Aber metal barrel and Tamiya's zimmerit stickers. Figures from Mini Art's winter tank crew set

Painted with Ultimate primer, Tamiya acrylics and Ultimate winter wash. Snow effects using Tamiya snow paint and polycell fine surface filler

You got the reveal done! And with hours to spare :D

It was great fun following along with your build thread on this mate, and the result is fantastic especially for your first foray into dios. Love it.
Cheers, Neil

On the Bench:
Revell 1/72 Millennium Falcon - stalled due to stupidity
Tamiya 1/35 Stegosaurus Stenops

Thanks Neil. Yes I just about stumbled over the line in the end. I never did get round to coming up with a proper background for the final reveal pics. Spent way too much money last weekend at Mike's Models up at the Breedon antiques fair. No money left in the budget for buying the background stuff!

Hi David fantastic work and so many first all carried out to very high level and you would think you've been doing them for years. Your skills are certainly growing, very well done

Thanks Pete.

I certainly had some great stuff to work with. Putting the kit aside, the DAS clay and the snow paint were brilliant. I felt, within reason, that I could really build something with the stuff I had to work with. I've certainly got the bug for dioramas now. On checking my stash I have dioramas in mind for the following:

Dragon 88mm Flak 36 with full winter crew - could go for broke with this and add my Tamiya Nashorn and crew for a really big scene
Dragon Tiger II Battle of the Bulge with Falshirmjager figures
(Both kits were £25 each at a recent model show , beautiful kits with tons of goodies like Dragon used to do)

Tamiya LRDG truck and jeep set with Master Box figures
Airfix 1/48 Battle of Britain ground set including their lovely new tool Hurricane)
Bronco models British Airborne jeep with trailer, figures and towed pack howitzer.

I'm gonna be like a pig in the brown stuff for months! But before all that I think I'm going to try my hand at a couple of large scale figures. Details to follow..... :shhh:
